Welp, it’s 12:03am on December 17th. Goodbye Tumblr. It’s been real.
A better, more positive Tumblr
Since its founding in 2007, Tumblr has always been a place for wide open, creative self-expression at the heart of community and culture. To borrow from our founder David Karp, we’re proud to have inspired a generation of artists, writers, creators, curators, and crusaders to redefine our culture and to help empower individuality.
Over the past several months, and inspired by our storied past, we’ve given serious thought to who we want to be to our community moving forward and have been hard at work laying the foundation for a better Tumblr. We’ve realized that in order to continue to fulfill our promise and place in culture, especially as it evolves, we must change. Some of that change began with fostering more constructive dialogue among our community members. Today, we’re taking another step by no longer allowing adult content, including explicit sexual content and nudity (with some exceptions).
Let’s first be unequivocal about something that should not be confused with today’s policy change: posting anything that is harmful to minors, including child pornography, is abhorrent and has no place in our community. We’ve always had and always will have a zero tolerance policy for this type of content. To this end, we continuously invest in the enforcement of this policy, including industry-standard machine monitoring, a growing team of human moderators, and user tools that make it easy to report abuse. We also closely partner with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the Internet Watch Foundation, two invaluable organizations at the forefront of protecting our children from abuse, and through these partnerships we report violations of this policy to law enforcement authorities. We can never prevent all bad actors from attempting to abuse our platform, but we make it our highest priority to keep the community as safe as possible.
So what is changing?
Posts that contain adult content will no longer be allowed on Tumblr, and we’ve updated our Community Guidelines to reflect this policy change. We recognize Tumblr is also a place to speak freely about topics like art, sex positivity, your relationships, your sexuality, and your personal journey. We want to make sure that we continue to foster this type of diversity of expression in the community, so our new policy strives to strike a balance.
Why are we doing this?
It is our continued, humble aspiration that Tumblr be a safe place for creative expression, self-discovery, and a deep sense of community. As Tumblr continues to grow and evolve, and our understanding of our impact on our world becomes clearer, we have a responsibility to consider that impact across different age groups, demographics, cultures, and mindsets. We spent considerable time weighing the pros and cons of expression in the community that includes adult content. In doing so, it became clear that without this content we have the opportunity to create a place where more people feel comfortable expressing themselves.
Bottom line: There are no shortage of sites on the internet that feature adult content. We will leave it to them and focus our efforts on creating the most welcoming environment possible for our community.
So what’s next?
Starting December 17, 2018, we will begin enforcing this new policy. Community members with content that is no longer permitted on Tumblr will get a heads up from us in advance and steps they can take to appeal or preserve their content outside the community if they so choose. All changes won’t happen overnight as something of this complexity takes time.
Another thing, filtering this type of content versus say, a political protest with nudity or the statue of David, is not simple at scale. We’re relying on automated tools to identify adult content and humans to help train and keep our systems in check. We know there will be mistakes, but we’ve done our best to create and enforce a policy that acknowledges the breadth of expression we see in the community.
Most importantly, we’re going to be as transparent as possible with you about the decisions we’re making and resources available to you, including more detailed information, product enhancements, and more content moderators to interface directly with the community and content.
Like you, we love Tumblr and what it’s come to mean for millions of people around the world. Our actions are out of love and hope for our community. We won’t always get this right, especially in the beginning, but we are determined to make your experience a positive one.

That 800 point stock market dip yesterday was Tumblr putting itself out of its misery.
I’m just so sad. I don’t even know why I’m typing this. I’m just really sad.
You’re such a dumbass. Not everyone who commits mass murder using assault weapons is ‘mentally ill’. Some of them are just fucking evil, and they have the access to the means to act out that evil because we have no fucking gun regulations in this country. Open your eyes you fucking capitalist sheep. “People would still use bombs” is not a fucking argument for why we don’t need gun control. Critical thinking skills buddy, get some.
I don’t know what comment you’ve seen of mine anon, but I can assure you I’ve never implied that mentally ill people are the only ones committing mass murders. We also need to worry about religious zealots, political extremists, and most of all gang members. But by and large, the majority of these highly publicized mass murders have been committed by people on psychotropic drugs. Yes, people would still use bombs and cars and even knives (like they have done in other countries). And now that the future is looking to be much more technologically advanced, you, I, or anybody else with a thousand bucks to drop on a 3D printer can MAKE their own firearm from scratch. Making it more difficult for law abiding citizens to get firearms only puts them at a disadvantage to those who own illegal, black market guns. And yes, we do have different regulations on different types of guns here in the states. Lastly, please stop using buzz words like “assault weapons” to describe those black, spooky, military style RIFLES that do the exact same thing as any other type of semi auto RIFLE. An assault weapon is any object that is used to assault somebody.
When I see a post with the phrase “don’t remove my caption” or something similar plastered at the bottom, it removes all aesthetic that the post may have had. It’s like watermarks on social media photos. The only purpose it serves is to muck up the photos so people won’t steal it... however in turn it makes people less interested in sharing or buying it as well.
The first sin. Misconception is that Eve was the first to sin when that’s not really all that true.
You see When God created everything and then Adam. He told him about the tree he said don’t eat of it.
God never told Eve.
When Eve was in the garden being tempted read that section you’ll find something interesting. Adam was right next to her and he didn’t say anything. He was using Eve as a Guinea pig.
Eve bit into the fruit nothing changed she handed it to Adam. And when he bit into it their eyes were opened.
So really the first sin was Man’s passive nature allowing something to happen he was told not to allow happen if he never ate their eyes may never have been opened but who knows.

Yup! This is so real!
So what you’re saying is the original sin was man not fucking protecting his wife lmao
Adam was a fuck boy?
Omfg! I’ve had this argument so many times!
Wow so men are biologically trash. Makes sense.
Never mind the fact that I don’t believe this nonsense at all BUT this statement is totally inaccurate and untrue as far as the original story goes. In Genesis 3:2-3, Eve clearly demonstrates to the serpent that she knows that she isn’t supposed to eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. She flat out tells the serpent that God told BOTH of them not to.
People who fall for this and say “Adam was a fuck boy” are the same people who read the headline on tabloid sites but not the article then don’t actually follow up with research about the accuracy of the article.
Quit making up shit as an excuse to hate on men then calling yourself a “feminist”.
oh no
Grey with light blue trim.
That’s what I see^
Yeah, that’s grey and like a neon cyan.
its fricken…pink and white?

Grey and blue
…. it is gray and blue.
This picture is different from the last one i saw its grey and blue now
Hol up this the same post
Nigga it’s grey and blue
I’ve tried everything in terms of editing the exposure and saturation and lighting levels and everything else I could think of/was available to me and using the paint dropper tool to “steal” the same exact color of a certain point in a picture, (on the spectrum it’s fucking grey and teal).
It’s grey and teal.
Gray and teal.
GREY AND TEAL.
Is teal a shade of blue?
Yes, average fucktard, teal is a shade of blue. Blue and green.
I swear this was pink the first time I saw it and now it’s gray and blue and I’m upset
Gray and teal
Pink and white son of a fucking whore.
The shoe is pink and white. I correct color for photos and videos 5 days a week for a living. Here’s the same photo color adjusted for the hand. It’s a rough edit since I did it in 30 seconds on my iPhone but you can clearly see the shoe is pink and white. Skin just isn’t blue like the hand in the original photo.
Look, the shoe is pink and white. Color correct the photo for the skin tone on the hand. In the left photo, the hand looks blue and dead. When you fix the hand, you clearly see that the shoe is pink and white.
Imagine this
After George H.W. Bush is released from the hospital, George W. and Jeb Bush surprise him with a trip to the Bush's Baked Beans factory where the band Bush has agreed to play the former presidents a surprise concert at which time H.W. Bush is presented with his very own bean bush.
Watch: SNL destroys the homophobia behind “religious freedom” bills.
THAT’S NOT WHAT IT FUCKING MEANS YOU ASSHOLES.
Someones right to get married does not supersede someone else right to serve their chosen God how they will. But you know what, only Christians are being targeted, no one fucking asks a Muslim run bakery or wedding venue to do it.
SNL can fuck off a fucking cliff and die a horrible death. They’re not funny, they’re not relevant anymore and they definitely are full of leftists political bull fucking shit.
I cannot believe that we actually have to have LAWS that protect the Religious population from being forced into doing something they actually disagree with. Fuck off with this fucking nonsense.
Just say you hate lgbt+ folks and goooooooooooooo. Like I can’t believe you are so angry over this lol. Typing out entire novels fueled by homophobic rage. If you’re working in a place that serves the public you do not have the right to deny service to anyone regardless of sexual orientation, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, or class. You’re not losing anything, other people are just gaining basic human rights. @dangerouslypleasantcoffee
Actually no one is entitled to your service. In a free society the government doesn’t own the bakery and the baker or tell them how to run their business. You have a free market that works in this way; you go to a bakery that denies you a service because of religious beliefs, so in your town there’s another bakery that probably will make you a cake. Getting a wedding cake made by homophobic Martha is not a “basic human right” you have the right to purchase a good or service, but you do not have the right to force a person to do business with you. You have the right to shop around until you can find a baker or you can find a way to make the cake yourself, but you don’t not have the right to make someone make a product for you.
And I think you’re very confused about what constitutes a “basic human right”.
Well actually discrimination is extremely illegal so no a business does not have the right to deny service based on sexuality.
Pretty sure there are also laws regarding the separation of public business and religion (ie religious institutions have to be non profit) so religion is not a legitimate basis to do this if you are running a public for profit business.
Actually this case was taken to the Supreme Court because laws don’t exist that would force a small business owner to make a product if it went against their personal beliefs. Laws against discrimination of already existing products and services do exist, as well was laws for hiring people etc. However, the art of making a specific product designed for the a specific purpose wasn’t in the books, hence, why it needed to be taken to the Supreme Court.
While they actually lose the case, the question of what products a person is forced to make comes into question. Would you make the same claim if the Small business owners were of Islamic faith, and refused because of their beliefs. Most people wouldn’t object. Most people also wouldn’t object if the bakers were gay and refused to make cakes for straight couples. I think they should all be within their rights to run their business as they see fit.
However you want to argue entitlements. I’m not the one who feels entitled to force the hands of anyone to make a product for me.
They lost in the Supreme Court so it’s a law now. That’s judicial review. The Supreme Court ruled it is illegal to discriminate based on sexuality, that makes it law. Do you know anything about how government works?
People would totally object if a gay baker decided to discriminate against straight people. Don’t lie to yourself.
If the business owners were Islamic and discriminated against gay people I would still be saying the same thing yes.
Businesses don’t have the right to discriminate, not even for religious purposes. Freedom of religion isn’t a thing for businesses because businesses aren’t people and don’t have constitutional rights like people have.
It’s not “forcing a business to make something for you” especially if that someone is paying you. The whole point of businesses is to serve the public. The public is not here to cater to a business owner’s feelings, businesses exist to serve the public. That is why it’s called “service.” The public isn’t a slave to the whims of business owners and it shouldn’t be that way, rather businesses cater to the tastes and decisions of their costumers in order to make money. That is the whole basis behind the free market. The decision to buy goods and services is the costumer’s, it shouldn’t be up to business owners to decide who can and can’t buy what. That is the opposite of free market.
If you decide to start a business then your business is inherently obligated to serve anybody who is willing to pay and behave fairly. You do not have the choice to discriminate against certain groups and the law explicitly states so (thanks to that court case and judicial review). That’s part of the deal.
Don’t want to serve gays? Don’t start a business. It is that simple.
You seem dense. Yes, it becomes a law after the fact. Not before. So what they did at the time of the incident, wasn’t considered “against the law” or illegal. Why do you think I brought up that it was taken to the Supreme Court?
And I’m in favor of people running their business how they feel. The free market doesn’t mean, obey the customer. Do you know what the free market is? Do you know anything?
I do know about the free market, and I know that if you don’t obey the costumer you don’t make money. If people run businesses “how they feel” they don’t make money. If business owners don’t obey the law, they don’t make money. If a business starts trying to make decisions for their own costumers, they don’t make money. If a business forces its religion on its costumers, they don’t make money.
So I mean I GUESS a business owner can decide to be a bitch and discriminate but they won’t be a business owner for long so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
You can “believe” all you want in discrimination (don’t know why you are proud of that) but… it’s against the law sooo…. guess that’s a losing battle
Exactly! Now you’re getting it! Now you’re using your brain. The business would fail! The business should fail if on its own. Not be forced to by the government!
If it’s a weak business and no one supports it because they don’t like their discriminatory policies then the free market has worked on its own.
Why do so many people conflate the law with morality? Just because a law exists doesn’t make it morally justified. So many people turn to the state as their moral center of gravity and it’s quite disturbing.
Why wouldn’t you want to expose a business owner’s bigotry and have the freedom to take your business elsewhere and not give them your patronage?
Discrimination goes both ways. It literally means the right to choose, and in a free market people could and should enjoy the right to associate and disassociate with whomever they want for whatever reason. It goes beyond “religious excuses.” It’s about having the basic freedom to enjoy the right to freedom of choice.
This is why consumer sovereignty gives the customer more power than businesses have, incentivizing companies to care about their reputation and encourage social behavior and dignified treatment. It’s not perfect and there will always be exceptions, but it’s by far the best solution we have.
The marriage debate was like this. People were looking to the state to sanctify their most intimate and often most spiritual relationships. They shouldn’t be in the relationship business to begin with, much less the arbiters of them.
Unless a business provides a life saving service, business owners should be allowed to do business with whomever they desire in whatever manner they desire regardless of what our court system says and regardless of what laws are on the books. Of course this is my opinion but I don't believe in coercion by force, especially not paid for by my tax dollars (which are also coerced away from me by government force but that's a different topic).
I swear if I make it home with my mind and some skin on my bones I'll be the first one to throw away these car keys and this cell phone so I can't leave or talk to anyone - and this stupid wrist watch so I'm unaware of the time that I've lost trying to be that which I'm not.
I’ll be writing in Bernie as well. #Love it!
Post: This is a really bad idea that will make it more likely for Trump to win. Bernie Sanders: Please vote for Hillary instead of writing me in. People: I’m gonna write Bernie in!
DON’T. VOTE. FOR BERNIE
All of these “I’ll write in Bernie” people, are literally the living embodiment of Privilege.
The main point of this post: voting third party or writing in Bernie will split the vote and basically hand Donald the White House.
DO NOT WRITE IN A NAME
DO NOT VOTE THIRD PARTY OR VOTE FOR BERNIE SANDERS
FOR GODS SAKE BERNIE SANDERS HAS TOLD PEOPLE NOT TO DO THIS BECAUSE IT WILL NOT WORK AND IT WILL MAKE IT EASIER FOR TRUMP TO WIN
Bernie Sanders isn’t even a write in candidate. You are LITERALLY wasting a vote by writing him in
A vote for a third party is not a vote for Trump and it is not a vote for Clinton. When neither major party is trustworthy you go with the party you do trust and won't win do they might get more federal funding and ballot access in future election cycles.
Trump and Hillary are equally corrupt. They are both working together to keep the elite on top and us far enough from the top to keep voting for them.
