Wanda was unsure as to how long she’d actually been gone, but considering Pietro had come to check in on her, she suspected it was longer than she’d intended. But decorating took time, and precision, and she wanted to get it right first time. It was the least she could do in apology, and the effort she put in mattered. “I told you I was helping Caroline, Pietro. Z'his is helping.” She rolled her eyes, stepping back from the tree to judge it for herself. It certainly looked festive, maybe too much. “I z'hink I should’ve used ribbon instead of… what did she call it? Tinsel.”
Pietro rolled his eyes in return, having forgotten the ins and outs of Wanda’s story. He’d hardly cared for the details at the time, instead consumed by his irritation that she wanted alone time in the first place. “‘Tinsel’? Are you even hearing yourself, phen?” He scoffed, moving quickly to tug at some of the loose plastic placed vicariously across the branches, uncaring that he’d just unravelled a line of it. “How is putting zhis shit in a tree helping anybody? If anyzhing, it is hindering. I am blind just looking at it.” Pietro shook his head in distaste, fuelled by his twin’s equal annoyance. “No point to a tree if zhere is nozhing underneath it.”
Yelena debated snatching the chocolate back from him, but she was smart enough to guess that he’d probably use his enhanced speed again. “I do not snooze. You cheated. You are a cheater.”
Pietro raised an eyebrow at the accusation, knowing it was probably true but wanting to challenge the point anyway. He could slow down, play fair if he wanted to, but why should he have to? Curious, Pietro grabbed another chocolate out of the bowl, and before she had time to notice, he threw it directly at her face, although he had made sure to throw it at a relatively human speed. Amusingly, she caught it before it hit her. So, she had skills herself. “Hm,” he smirked. “Was zhat cheating?”
Considering the twins didn’t celebrate Christmas, Wanda had no experience with decorating trees. But after destroying the first home she’d been given back in January, she was indebted to Caroline and her forgiveness, so had offered her services to help prepare the town for the holidays. She was happy to do it, but was struggling with self-doubt as to whether or not her work was any good, especially considering the vampire’s high standards. “Do you z’hink z’his looks alright?” Wanda had sensed someone behind her, so had questioned them without turning, hanging up one of the last baubles as she did so.
His sister had mentioned she was going out for a while to help someone, but had failed to mention the what, and after a few hours alone, Pietro grew restless. It didn’t take him long to find her, and once he had, he raised his eyebrows, both at the question, and the gigantic tree she was decorating. He didn’t want to cause her offense, but he was hardly impressed with her choice of activity. “So diavolo keres tu? Zhis is why you have been gone?”
