The reason why so many of their interpretations irk me is because in these past three years I've matured a view on their relationship that can be portrayed as a boomer I hate my wife comic. Narrator helpless sub boy might be appetizing when you get in the fandom, but after a while he turns an irritable controlling guy that needs to vent out the feeling of ineptitude. Tyler might seem like the one that's imposing over the narrator, but to me he's the embodiment of life burning the hands of the Guy that tries to bend it at his will. There is no power dynamic, there's two powers tugging the rope until they're both exhausted and collapse on each other.
