It's the most pupperful time of the year!

March through May is harbor seal (Phoca vitulina) pupping season and we’re lucky enough to have a seal rookery—a nursery for moms and pups—right in our backyard at Hopkins Beach.

Pups stay with their mothers for the first 4-6 weeks of their life. During this crucial bonding time, the pups learn to swim and forage before being weaned and venturing out on their own.

🏝️Give them space and share the shore. Please keep your distance and always remember to stay at least 100 yards away. 

❌🤳To minimize stress on our blubbery buddies during an already stressful time (new parents out there, you know what’s up), remember to keep the area quiet, and (sorry!) no sealfies with seals.

I know nothing about cheese and I used to not care about it but after my friends and I went to a fancy restaurant and decided to get a mini charcuterie board for fun (hon hon hon, ratatouille-esque) I realized I was really enjoying the Brie cheese.

Ever since, I have been trying cheeses because I realized how much I’ve been missing out. My charcoochie board is kinda rudimentary but it was pretty good. I’ve decided I do not in fact enjoy stinky cheeses, they fuck with my sensory issues. However there’s this strawberry balsamic vinaigrette compote that was TO DIE FOR I might just eat it on it’s own it’s that yummy.

Theres this one cheese with an edible rind where the entire thing was soaked in red wine, and it has sweet undertastes and it was reaaally yummy <3 might be my new fave

I’m probably never gonna be a ✨true cheese intellectual✨, but at least I’m having fun :)

In addition to my mice, here are my Guinea pigs, who are all stinky little boys (left to right: Cosmo, Lunar, Milkyway, Comet). They have a lot of drama that I can explain later but I’m too lazy to do that right now

The basics of the drama are:

- Cosmo and milky came from a troubled home. They were both about 2 when my moms acquaintance said “hey your kids like animals don’t they? Y’all can have my Guinea pigs!”

- they were housed inadequately, which obv caused a lot of issues because animals are territorial

- eventually they were kind of getting along, but a few years later milky randomly started bullying Cosmo again

- I had to separate them and get them each their own babies because they’re social animals and get anxious with no friends

- milky and his baby are both assholes and eventually started fighting with each other so now I have 3 different cages of Guinea pig

- they used to have an entire room to themselves but my mom made me put them back into just the Midwest cages (which, are adequate, but basically bare minimum for space, they’d be happier with more space) :/ feelsbad

- hopefully I can move out soon and give them the space they deserve

My bf and I (long distance, across the entire country, he’s in California and I’m in New Jersey) thought it would be very funny to go to a love hotel when one of us visits.

I started searching for one near me and found one less than 10 miles away. Great! I check the availability dates.

December isn’t available at all.

Oh well… I decide to check for next year.

How many people are coming to this hotel???

Anyway I keep skipping forward and seems they’re booked even past 2025. I’m too lazy to look more but it’s probably even more past that time.

I might give them a call tomorrow to ask what’s up with the availability on the website, so update incoming whenever I remember it because I have ADHD
