Decided to do more of my Shadowsugar children propaganda. I wanted to point out the many similarities of Candy Apple and Black Sapphire, as well as include some connection between them and Shadow Milk and Eternal Sugar I don't think anyone's pointed out yet. You can see more similarities between CAC and ESC in the last theory I did linked HERE and my @tanoshiboo who did a way better job connecting them than I did. What I love about the Wooly vs Chicken Scratch conflict is that it perfectly represents "action vs inaction" when it comes to having friends.

Each time Amanda clearly needed comfort, Wooly (from the very beginning) would just look sad for her, but never actually do anything except try and distract her. Then there's Chicken Scratch...

The fact that he offered her his hand more than once 😭

This also cements my own theory that Marcus/Wooly likely never had anyone comfort him before, unlike Rebecca and Jordan who had loved ones. In fact, he looks uncomfortable when Amanda has her vulnerable/sad moments, like he doesn't know what to do.

Wooly's abuse of Amanda is so insidious because he does what many real life abusers do: He grooms his surroundings into not seeing it.

Since the first game, he's been portraying himself as Amanda's cute, well-meaning friend whom she tortures for nooo reason at all. Look at her, she's so angry and violent and he's just a poor widdle baby with zero control over the situation.

He has all the power but convinces us, the viewer that he has none at all. And the way most fans were falling for it hook, line and sinker is terrifying.

Wooly and Amanda don't fit into what we typically see as the abuser /abuse victims archetypes.

Wooly's submissive, eager to please, rarely ever raises his voice. Sure sometimes he gets a little manipulative, sometimes he's notably passive-aggressive when Amanda won't do what he wants, but he's just coping, right? Anyone would act like that if they were trapped with such a volatile girl, wouldn't they?

Amanda is assertive, loud, often angry and upset. Sure sometimes she seems scared and vulnerable, like she literally doesn't want to be here and she seems to really don't like Wooly's presence and seems much more genuine and relaxed when he's not around, but that's just because she's so unstable, isn't it? She obviously could get rid of Wooly no problem, ther power balance is obviously titlted in her favor, right?

AtA's portrayal of an imperfect abuse victim and the greasy tactics abusers will use to make themselves seem reasonable so no one will believe or side with the people they hurt is just amazing.
