Sarcastic things my mom used to say (this is meant to be funny btw, I love my mom):
1. Whenever my mother startled me by walking onto a room in which I happened to be daydreaming, she would get annoyed and say "Why would you get scared when you don't live alone?"
2. In Spanish,
Me: "Que es eso?"
She would say, with dead pan delivery, "Pan con queso."
Which not only rhymes, but never actually answered my question.
3. Me: "Tengo hambre."
Mom: "Come alambre"
3a. Also food related:
Me: "What are you making for (insert meal)?"
Mom: "Food"
4. Me: "Mom, where is (thing I'm looking for)?
Mom: "Find it so I can show it to you."
OR
Mom: *pulls down lower eyelid and sticks out tongue* "Right here."
Burnout SUCKS!
It festers apathy for everything. Basic needs, like hygiene and feeding yourself, feel like chores at best and daunting at worst. Fun things, like dying your hair or social gatherings, make you feel hate for them! It's so frustrating.
It took me months after seeking therapy to start using hair care products again. I was just washing it before and not taking care of it. I've spent a year slowly adding nutritious food to my meals, and now my meals look totally different from what I used to eat. I finally bought myself new clothes, because for so long I couldn't be bothered to replace the ones that were falling apart. I've committed to working out once a week for 20mins and I've been consistent for 2 months, and I'm looking forward to building up from that.
If you're feeling burnt out right now, just know that recovery is a slow process. Every day that you get out of bed is a win, and every time you take care of your needs is a celebration 🎉 Take your time. You got this.
Whenever you have a dream, especially a distressing one, you should try to connect it to something in your life. Even if you don't fully recall what the dream was about, focus on the feeling it gave you.
For example, you may have dreams about work or school that make you feel very stressed, which is common, try to connect it to something specific about work or school. Or it may be more niche. Whenever my subconscious wants to tell me that I'm feeling stuck and frustrated, I have dreams about my abusive ex. The first time it happened to me I was so confused because I was already in another long term relationship with my, now, husband. But that man made me feel so much like crap that my brain associates him with the existential dread of being stuck in life.
TLDR Start interpreting your dreams for deeper insight into your life.
Barista occupational hazards:
>permanent parfum de caf
>random chocolate stains on your clothes
>always feeling sticky
>going home with coffee beans in your shoe
>dry hands
>caffeine overdose
>you're stuck saying "Good Morning "
>you find coffee grinds everywhere
>no one else can make your coffee anymore

Are they called "peanuts" because they are nuts the size of a pea?
I wish more people understood that most things have value because we give them value, not because they are intrinsically valuable.
Resting (insert type here) face is just your brain leaving your face unattended to go and do other things. It's the screensaver.
I like to sit on ideas before I hatch them; a concept hen. 🥚 🐓
I wish I had a "don't fuck with me" aura. At best, all I can manage is a "please leave me alone" vibe.
I don't remember where I was when I overheard someone say, "You don't need to suffer for people to love you." I think about it every time I feel like I haven't done enough. I try to remember that I have to take care of myself in order to take care of others. It's in my nature to care, and I would suffer more if I couldn't anymore.
