✧ — ⋆ “ It could confirm everything. ” Or nothing. 

He wants to believe that something is wrong because if not, then why does his brain feel like it’s in such a fog? Why does it feel like there are things missing, important things, things he cares about. Something has to be missing, or else why would he feel this way? 

But the alternative is just as scary. It being confirmed that someone is missing, that they had lost someone, someone important. If they had, they have no plausible way of getting them back right now, nor is there any guarantee that they would find a way to. 

          “ What do you think, Webby? Do we start with Uncle Scrooge, or Fenton and Gyro? ”

      at the reminder about scrooge, webby instantly reeled back. after all, this could all be a HUNCH -- webby just trying to make an adventure out of nothing... it was better to go to scrooge when they had something SOLID. then the old duck would have no choice but to believe in them ! ... right ?

      ❝ i think gyro and fenton would be better. after all, if something happened at the library, they would have some insight on the solego circuit. that had to be what was used.. right ? they’re the only ones who could give us the answers they need. ❞

         every day she looks at her board -- and everything SEEMED normal. so why was there this pit in her stomach ? why did it seem like more and more people that were close ( or used to be close ? ) were just DISAPPEARING. like it didn’t exist ? it was just a weird phenomena that just didn’t seem to want to go away.

had the manor always felt this empty ?

Another long day at the office, another day in the life for Scrooge McDuck. He’d been eager for his next spread of adventure, thinking fondly of the treasure maps waiting for him at home ( AND AN UPROAR WAITING FOR HIM IN LIGHT OF THAT, cursed be the impulse control ). Stretching, the man soon turns the knob to his office, stepping inside. And quickly, the door is shut and lights cut – the miser peers around the room in questionable defense, wondering who’s trying steal his Earthly possessions this time. Until the light is shined upon his face, and he hears a familiar voice.

Scrooge shields his face in mild irritation, squinting – it feels like an interrogation room, so dressed up when it could be phrased as a simple question. ❝ Webbigail – ❞ But he’ll humor her, as he always does. Squinting at the photograph, the man readjusts his spectacles and takes the photo, turning to look at it properly. He stares at it, rather intensely, though brows soon lift in conflicted confusion. Something… something does feel off, now that the lass mentions it. Uproar… or lack thereof. Though his tone is a little uneasy, as if he’s not sure, he comments, ❝ It’s a family picture. Webby, why… ❞

         maybe she was overthinking it. it wouldn’t be the first time it’s happened -- but still, there were multiple thoughts that LINGERED far too long for this to be just a THOUGHT. there had to be something at play ! huey felt it too... that had to mean something, right ?

      ❝ yes, a family picture ! but doesn’t it feel... i don’t know, empty ? like there’s something lacking from it ? ❞ but the more she thinks about, the more she’s unsure. maybe she only came to the older duck to realize that. hands ring in front of her before they clap, letting the lights in the room turn back on. when did she install clapping lights ? she won’t say.

     ❝ i-i know it seems like a stretch, but it feels like there’s SOMETHING there ! or... something missing. ❞

         it’s like every time she looks at her board, it seems smaller... but everyone she knows is there. what’s with the feeling in the pit of her stomach ?
