Legally Rina exists in an AU where Elliot and Playtime are good at numbering things. Just looking at the piles of bodies in front of the prison you're telling me there was only one thousand four hundred sixty seven experiments? And one thousand five of them were rats? I don't think so. There's like, a group of mini Huggys that all share a number. This is bad numbering. And they just had hundreds of children lying around and also access to brain scans?
Anyway in Rina's AU, single numbers are reserved for just bigger bodies, or extenuating circumstances (like sawyer). As well, the only real children that went into any of the experiments are the ones that went into the bigger bodies. All the minis are made from brain scans and also get an extra number in the form of a batch number (just appended onto the end of their associated experiment number) (Rina is a mini for ex. 1466, and she was made as the sixth item (f) in the first batch (01) so Rina's full number is 1466-01f)
As well as well, buffer zeroes. Anyone who's numbered lists of anything in a computer knows the hell of 1, 10, 2, 3, and it sucks and I don't like it so Rina gets a buffer zero as there was intended to be multiple batches even though it didn't end up happening. And every experiment pre 1000 gets and appropriate amount of buffer zeroes (the one pre-1000 ex. we know of, 814, becomes 0814, that's all.)
As a final AU note, I populated the factory and cave systems with bugs. I just think there'd be bugs.
Secondly, her actual backstory where I have her kiss the Prototype:
Rina's toy self is a mini for dress up doll in line-ish with Lily. Up until the hour of joy she was kept in a cell block in the prison. Because of how recently she was made compared to when the revolution started, she never had the chance to go through conditioning, but it doesn't matter much because she doesn't actually have any of the memories of the child she was copied from.
At the start of the hour of joy, when all the prison doors opened, Rina was met by a mini Baba Chops trying to help get her door open far enough for her to escape. Rina and this mini become close during the chaos and stay together after the dust dies down. They use their small size to weasel out into the undeveloped cave systems where they keep themselves fed on bugs and other wildlife. At least until Baba is killed in a cave-in.
With years of girlfriend adventures outside, she never actually learns who Poppy is, and she completely misses the toy war. She never actually met the Prototype by this point either but she'd have heard the name during the hour.
Following Baba's death, Rina makes trips between the caves and the factory mostly for her own curiosity. At some point she gets noticed by the cameras making her trip out, which Sawyer snitches to the Prototype. Curious about a hole he didn't know about, and in the interest of having it patched, he follows her out. But when she arrives at her destination and he asks her what she's up to out here, he's met not with fear but with her asking how he followed her because her path relies on her small size. This confuses him. Regardless she shows him how she keeps bugs for food and which ones taste better than others. He watches and listens, but finds it disgusting.
After determining that's she's not a) a rebel and b) doesn't have a way to the surface from here, he deems her schtick as not a big deal and returns to the factory. She follows him. Or tries, at least. Her short size and faulty knees prove to make keeping up with him tricky. Eventually, tired of hearing her hit the floor for the one williamth time, he picks her up and lets her ride around on his back, where they start talking and become close.
