Solangelo or jasper angry kiss?
The anger had surprised her. She had been expecting the desperation, exhaustion, helplessness and worry, but the anger had come out of nowhere. Piper wasn’t sure who she was angry at: Apollo, Caligula, the gods or even Jason. It had been over two weeks since the incident and Jason was still in the ICU in an induced medical coma, the doctors at the Nuovo Roma Hospital were still optimistic but the longer it was, the more hopeless and angry Piper felt.
Frank and Reyna had managed to find a small apartment for Piper and Leo to stay, but the two of them used mostly the place for quick showers and power naps, spending most of the time in the hospital’s waiting room. Reyna, Frank, and Hazel were there as often as they could, but they were also leading the army to protect New Rome from Caligula’s forces who were almost upon them.
“I hate him,” Piper said, her throat hoarse from all the crying she had been doing in the past two weeks, she could feel Leo’s eyes on her. “I hate him and his noble heart, and his heroic actions, we should have denied helping Apollo.”
After all this time she was surprised her body could still produce tears but here she was sobbing once more.
Leo pulled his arms around her, gently guiding her to rest against his chest. “You know he would have never denied his help to someone who needed it, that’s one of the reasons why we love him,” Leo whispered, his voice also trembling.
“It’s not fair, we already saved the world once why the gods can’t leave us alone.” Piper sobbed and Leo just pulled her closer.
They stayed in that position for a while, it was uncomfortable and the crappy plastic chairs in the waiting room didn’t help. But Piper still found comfort in his friend’s embrace.”
“Miss McLean, Mr. Valdez.”
Piper and Leo turned to face the friendly nurse that had been updating them since day one. She looked tired but there was a smile on her face and Piper’s heart started to fill with hope.
“Doctor Byrne has ordered to stop the induced coma, Jason is no longer intubated and is breathing on his own without any assistance.”
Piper gasped and covered her mouth with her hands.
“This is good right?” Leo asked hesitantly.
The nurse Saxer smiled at him. “It’s a positive reaction, we hope Jason will wake up in a couple of days maximum.”
“Oh gods.” For the first time in a while Piper’s tears were from joy.
“And Jason is allowed to have visitors” When Leo and Piper immediately stood up she raised their hand at them gently. “Only one person at the time, okay?”
“Okay,” Piper and Leo replied in unison.
“Thank you so much,” Piper said to her, she only nodded once before moving on.
“You go first,” Leo said and Piper turned to face him. Even with the help of Reyna and Frank, no one had been able to visit Jason since the moment he was out of surgery. They could only see him across the glass windows that Piper had learned to hate so much.
“Yeah,” Leo’s eyes were misty. “Besides he is going to love hearing my voice after listening to your annoying one.”
When Piper opened the door to Jason’s room she felt she was breaking the rules somehow. She had been so used to see the room from outside it felt weird being inside of it. But then she saw Jason, he no longer had all the scary tubes around his face, but he still had some on his arms, too many in Piper’s opinion. But his skin wasn’t as pale and his blood wasn’t covered in blood and his chest was moving in a rhythmic way. It felt wrong how peaceful Jason looked, he should be awake enjoying his life not in a bed hoping to wake up.
Piper hesitantly walked towards him, she slowly rested her hands on top of his. It was warm, not icy cold like that day on the sea when she was frantically calling his name. She felt a rush of anger overcome her body, but this time it wasn’t against the boy she loved and will always love, it was to the fates, the gods and every deity that was responsible for this. She leaned in and her lips touched his forehead.
“I love you, please wake up soon,” she pleaded quietly. “Leo and I need you.”
