What Object Best Describes You?

The last time that teacher talked to us is when he reminded us about the thing that we think best describes us. And it just came to my mind that, it’s been a while since I played this kind of thinking game.

It makes me feel like I don’t really know myself. Am I like a spin top, that turns around with potential? Am I a dresser that holds many important things? A paper airplane that soars high? I could be any of these if that’s what I think about myself. But I can’t help to think of the negativities about these things.

If I were a spinning top, does that mean I could easily be brought down even by the sheer force of pressure around? I wouldn’t want to admit it, but I think it’s true. If I am a dresser, it also means that deep down, at the last door, I hold the trash that people do not mind anymore. I like keeping trashes for I believe in memory lanes and such. And just like the spinning top, a paper plane that can be easily knocked down by wind and pressure.

There are so many things that come in handy when you need to. If anyone would be asked what object best describe themselves the most. I’m sure anyone will use some things that are important or useful albeit everything has pros and cons. I’m sure I’ll find out soon what object describes myself the most. At least before our deadline.

Long time no see, tumblr. There are too many things that happened in my life for the past few months. I don’t know how to feel. Should I be happy? Should I feel regretful? Should I be lonely? I honestly don’t know. I passed my entrance exam at FEU but I don’t feel like I should be proud of it. I feel like it’s not something to be proud of. No one appreciates it, except for me. I’m thinking about taking another exam at another school. Pressure, pressure, pressure.

Avoidant (or Anxious) Personality Disorder

This is very similar to generalized social phobia. Those with the disorder think of themselves as being inadequate, unlikeable and socially inept. They fear being rejected, criticised or ridiculed and would rather avoid most social situations. The reasons can differ may be related to emotional neglect and peer group rejection in childhood and/ or adolescence. Symptoms may include the following:

- Hypersensitivity to rejection/criticism - Self-imposed social isolation - Extreme shyness or anxiety in social situations. (However, the person still has a strong desire for close and meaningful relationships) - May avoid physical contact with others (because it is associated with emotional or physical pain) - Painful feelings of inadequacy - Poor self-esteem - Intense feelings of self consciousness - Self hatred or self-loathing - Mistrust of others - Emotional distancing/ fear of intimacy - Highly critical of their ability to relate naturally and appropriately to others - Do not feel they can connect with others (although others may view them as easy to relate to) - Intense feelings of inferiority. - In more extreme cases, may suffer from agoraphobia.

Treatment approaches include social skills training, cognitive therapy, gradually increasing exposure to social situations, group therapy and, occasionally, drug therapy. Gaining and keeping the client’s trust is essential for progress to be made.
