thinking about kate milens … who you sporadically encounter throughout the mansion, sometimes being avoidant and constantly lurking behind the walls of her own room, and other times sharing a tiny chuckle at something bastardly stupid with hoodie.

thinking about kate milens … who got paired up with you for a mission, not saying much rather than ‘let’s go’ as you pushed past the creaky, wooden door of the mansion with silence scented in pine and rain filling your nostrils. Maybe a glance or two lingered as you passed through the herb-laden logs that framed your entire endeavour.

thinking about kate milens … who occasionally sees you, mostly being assigned to sort papers or other small cases rather than going out and killing or kidnapping people in the woods. She never really gave you too much thought, only simply acknowledging your existence within the mansion leading up to your paired-up mission.

thinking about kate milens … who did majority of the work for your first mission together, leaving your inexperience to the shadows as she hardly made an effort to encourage you to do anything. Only once, glancing at you through her piercing eyeholes through her mask; just for it to fall short not even 3 seconds later, a heavy scoff pushing past her lips as she took over the mission entirely.

thinking about friend!kate milens … helping you sort out papers whenever she just so happened to be passing by your rooted place in one of the various rooms accompanying the endless hallways, watching as she walks in to find a pout sat plump on your lips, and papers stacked in tall, disorganised heaps while more papers lay strewn in careless constellations. ‘Uh hey,’ you’d awkwardly mutter, voice echoing a weighed dull while your eyes scan her taunting figure leaning on the doorway.

thinking about friend!kate milens … who wasn’t necessarily sure of her intentions. She doesn’t want friends, the few ones she currently has just sort of happened, she’d never want to go out of her way to make new ones. Her sole purpose of existence was to serve slenderman after he practically took over her life and made her a proxy, and she’s never expressed any sort of interest in anything after that, just sort of… well, existing.

thinking about friend!kate milens … who’d go into crisis mode trying to figure out what the fuck was that stunt she pulled with you. She’d start avoiding not only you, but even speaking to the people she usually spoke with, solely going out for missions and shutting herself in her room. It wasn’t cause she was freaking out or anything, well maybe partly, but she’d feel as if her emotions blurred into something shapeless

thinking about gf!kate milens … who let you in after realising she loves you, which scared her at first, but after her feelings would only grow and get more conflicted, she had no choice but to cave in and let herself love you. which now, seems to be an obvious case as you find her in your arms almost after every tiring mission, comfortable and sound.

thinking about gf!kate milens … who started expecting a lot from you after letting you see her vulnerable,. And when you didnt meet those standards, she’d lose it. It’d be more so in the beginning, not understanding how the one person she viewed as everything, couldn’t do simple things she wanted from you. But as time progresses, she realises your worth to her, how she can barely go about her day without seeing that lifting smile you’d give her, or how she felt like she was slow, unable to go on missions without her mind clouding, and she starts to deliberately try and accommodate to your needs and tries her hardest to understand you can’t do everything

thinking about gf!kate milens … who comes back to the mansion after her mission, discarding her boots in the corner of her room and throwing away her blood-slick hoodie on the floor, and then immediately melts into your body that was sleeping soundly in her dull sheets. The lengthy, sounded breaths that would escape your still body were enough to lull her to sleep with her arms around your waist like armour.

thinking about gf!kate milens … who gives you much more reassurance than you expected. As someone who you never really got too know, you never thought of kate to be this patient, reassuring person with you, and that is partly true. She isn’t as patient and kind— no, every one of slenderman’s proxies are broken. But when she starts to pick up on your anxious habits, or experiences one of your panicked outbursts, she handles them much more fondly than you would’ve assumed.

SLENDERMAN: Contortion [ANALYSIS]

A trailer just dropped. And I couldn't be more excited about it. It's an indie animated film based on Slender: The Arrival. And you know what that means…

According to its creators, it's based more on S: The Arrival AND Marble Hornets, although they don't say how, so we'll have to start analyzing it frame by frame... well, not everything, but you get the idea.

The first impressions are already impressive; it's Kate's house, or at least a recreation of it, as seen in the Slender Arrival remaster. Now, in one of the papers we can see, which appears to have been made by Kate, we can observe four silhouettes. This is strange because there aren't that many characters in the original Slender: The Arrival story. It was in later years that Charlie, his parents, and the doctor who inspects all the Slender Sickness patients at the hospital were added. But again, these are later additions, and there's no evidence—or at least not obvious evidence, or strong implication within the trailer—to suggest that it's someone from that family. Because if it were, they would need to include everyone, not just one. So, why would she do this?

Sure, the description mentions that it's also partially based on Marble Hornets, and remember that the four main characters there are Jay, Tim, Alex, and Brian. However, I highly doubt it's about them. Perhaps it's an allusion because the drawings seem to simulate an arch, and you could symbolize the tunnel in Rosswood, but the truth is I'd just be rambling, especially because there's also a name written there that I can read, unlike the rest: the name Bayne, and there isn't any character I can recall with that name.

Here we can start talking a little about the developers' background before making the film. Mainly because I already know their work; I saw their previous film.

I can tell you from experience that these guys are masters of film direction and stylistic animation; however, they're not very good at screenwriting, at least in my humble opinion. Their previous work features scenes that are too fast-paced, with somewhat absurd decisions and a heavy reliance on clichés. Nevertheless, that doesn't detract from the fact that they are extremely talented, and the fact that they're now using a base story that not only is half the world already familiar with, but which has also been partially developed in terms of everything they'd like to add, makes this experience closer to an adaptation or reinterpretation of the events. This excites me mainly because that's the beauty of Slenderman stories: they're so vague that people can create their own interpretations, and we see this perfectly in the following clip.

A red-haired girl who seems to be involved in all the investigations we'll see in the movie; I think it's obvious to assume that this is Lauren. We can also assume this based on the few images we have of her. Thanks to the game, we see that she maintains a physique and hair quite similar to this character model. But what seems most obvious to me is that she's in Kate's room, presumably looking at all the chaos that occurred before she fled to the Forest, as in the game, and talking about herself....

And I have to say I really like her attitude, at least at this point. Let's remember that in the story she was not only fed up with all of Carl Ross's romantic attempts towards her, but she also lacked the mental capacity to stand up outside her house. So seeing her like this seems to me a perfect representation of the poor woman's mental state.

In the following scenes, we can observe the Chaser, the proxified version of Kate in different shots, as well as her fleeing inside her house. It seems very good that this is the part in the game where they ask you to close windows and doors, which is a useless task because Slenderman would already be inside your house, and speaking of this...

Right in the following scenes, we can observe a gigantic reunion of what Slenderman looks like attacking Kate and I quite like it. Not only because it borders on surrealism and hallucinations, but also because in the description of the trailer video we find that there is also mention of pocket dimensions, somewhat similar to what was in Rosswood from Marble Hornets.

This is actually partly canon. As far as I remember, there are certain letters and notes in the game that indicate Kate had quite a few hallucinations, to the point of becoming catatonic because of Slenderman, at least for a while. And speaking of the monster protagonist of this movie, damn, he looks great! Slenderman here is quite tall, so tall he could be mistaken for a tree, but in later scenes, we see him with proportions somewhat closer to those in the game. And although the cartoonish style might sacrifice a bit of the uncanny valley feeling it gives, the truth is they captured him very well; he looks incredible.

Of course, as some of you may know, I like the tentacles to not come directly from the back, but rather from literally the entire body, but that's just a personal whim and I can't deny the fact that this is an impressive piece of work.

Now we see this rather bizarre scene in which a man in a leather jacket, with a biker-like appearance, is brutally beating what appears to be a much older person. Now, there are quite a few scenes in the game where this could happen, and personally, I think it's easy to assume that this biker-looking man is none other than Carl Ross. But who is the other man? Again, how do I have to say that the story of Charlie and his family was added later, and an important part of it was that thanks to them, Carl discovered where Slenderman came from, or at least a way in which he connects with all of them. So it's likely that the poor man he's beating is none other than Charlie's father, either in a Catholic state or perhaps by making Carl angry enough to lash out at him. Remember that by this point Carl was already quite unhinged.

Eh! Reference to Silent Hill 2. Nice!

I have absolutely no idea if this is the case, because there's no character similar to this individual in either the series or the video game. Perhaps I was thinking of Redlight, a character from the Slenderverse Blpgsphere, but he's such a niche character that it's highly unlikely they would have actually considered him. So my best guess is someone from the hospital, mainly because a black liquid is coming out of his eyes and mouth. No, it's not Eyeless Jack; the game mentions how the doctor started finding a black substance in the bodies of all his patients. This is what caused the Slender Sickness.

The last scene I have to highlight, which doesn't seem to be linked to the others, is this one of a long hallway with Kate running towards the camera. Presumably, this is The Mines, where Lauren is being chased by Kate and Slenderman himself while trying to activate some generators to reactivate an elevator. Once again, I can't deny that this thing looks incredibly well-made, but I also have to ask how much of the game it's taking from the source material. While Lauren Kate and Carl's story is currently a classic within the Slenderverse, with each update, Charlie and his family's story also gained relevance, to the point where I'd say they became the true protagonists of the game. However, we haven't seen any of these characters in the film. And while it's well known among some of my followers that I loathe and detest that storyline, it's still strange to see how there are sometimes connections to it, like the hospital scene or the fact that I think the character Carl is beating up Charlie's father.

All those elements, as I mentioned, weren't in the original game. To give you an idea of ​​how different the initial version, which was also released on Xbox 360, was from the version currently being ported to virtual reality, there was a secret ending in the original version where the logo of the Tribe Twelve Collective started to appear. Currently, that logo has been changed to the logo of the Marble Hornets operator.

But well, I'm not going to complain, even though I recognize that the story of Charlie and his family is very well done. I still detest it, and I prefer the original story they had to the others. So, I could say that I won't complain too much about this; I just find it curious that there are elements that don't seem to quite fit together. But anyway, for now, that's all. You have no idea how excited I am just to see this thing. I think I'll watch it about 50 times throughout the rest of the day.
