Why do men love to see women suffer so much and get turned on by it? Half of the stuff here is women obviously in pain
This is a bit strange to be answering after two years, but every time I check tumblr, this is my top DM and I keep thinking about it. Now that that twitter is on fire, I'm checking tumblr even more. 😭
So I just want to start by saying this is a reasonable take away and it's also understandable to feel like something is wrong when you look at the pics here (or whats left of them), but I don't think this is accurate.
The problem here is that women totally get turned on by men in pain. Possibly more of them?? And they're frankly better at it??? Read enough fanfiction written by women and GOSH can you see the level of pure soul crushing despair they can inflict on fictional boys they actually like. Forget transforming into a dolphin or whatever, they'll write about the desolation of someone's soul or a homoerotic icepick lobotomy.
Getting off to suffering is not a particularly gendered activity. Being a horny weirdo is not the sole domain of any gender.
What I think is going on here (and let me make it clear here, this is a broad generalization. I know exceptions in every direction) is... A portion of the porn that ends up here is made with either a lack of empathy or a lack of emotional clarity. Guys processing weird, gross feelings they haven't really figured out and who lack the social skills to relate to people, creating art that just has an..... air of toxicness to it.
I have sympathy, for this, honestly. Men are often raised in very... emotionally muting way. This is a nasty, cultural pressure and artistic expression, even if it's... goofy, or vile, or awkward... is probably better for the people around that person than them bottling it up. Part of why I spent years helping people with fetish stuff here is because you can TOTALLY be into some petty rancid stuff in a healthy way, but you gotta learn how to process that stuff. But some male artists (and honestly, some female artists too) instead fall into a kinda... idk... feedback loop of over indulgence and detachedness?
Again this isnt' some gender essentialist shit, but the way we, as a culture, treat men and women differently has an impact on the art both make.
I'm sure you don't care about any of this after 2 years lol but I had to answer it.
