random thought:

the media makes grief seem like a minor inconvenience. Like holy shit. My parents died over two years ago (i’m 19 now and inherited our family home) and you know what I didn’t do? I still to this day have not thrown my mom’s toothbrush out, or the two eggs that happened to be in the fridge the day she died. Because… grief makes you do shit like that. Someone’s sibling/parent/significant other will die in a movie and all of their friends will be like ‘jeremy its already been five days since barbara died you need to get back out there and start dating again’. Like what the FUCK. Losing someone changes you FOREVER. When I say changes you, I mean literally BREAKS your entire life in half, before and after that moment. You know how I counted time the first year my mom was gone? Like this : this is x-th time I’m washing my hair since she died. This is the y-th time I’m having chicken. This is the z-th time I cut myself because I’m miserable. As someone who has been through Some Shit… Grief is the heaviest emotion humans are capable of feeling. You don’t just ‘get over it’.
