Dear Diary- "Meli are you ok?" A familiar question since I've been unsocial these days & it's hard to know how to answer it exactly. From one perspective I've never been more grounded, connected & open & from the opposite perspective I've never been more scared, vulnerable & consumed with my own shadow. It's as if darkness is trying to swallow me up & devour every last lil joyful bit of me. Joy has always come naturally to me so I've been surprised at how good sadness feels, I often consider if I should just surrender & cry myself a river & soak in it for awhile? Ahh sounds kind of soothing, especially since the Bon Bon's flow like wine there. Then I keep hearing a lil whisper "hey, hey Meli... you only need a second of courage to face this, put the Bon Bon's down!!" As I've uncovered the parts of me or memories I've been too scared to face & said them aloud or to the person they were born from, I've realized if you leave sad things tucked away deep inside darkness they grow mold & seem too disgusting & BIG to deal with. It literally takes only a second to face what you're afraid of. The irony is we avoid exposing the pain for fear of feeling weak but just as the stars only shine in the dark, strength is born from having the courage to face fear, not from avoiding it. So I guess the real answer is, for the first time in my life I'm accepting that life doesn't need to be one or the other but it is actually both black AND white & undulating freely, without judgement between the two, is creating the ride of a life!!
