The issue here is that no one listens to small time actors, and there is a gender pay gap in Hollywood. There’s also a racial pay gap in Hollywood (obviously). Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Review)

(OBVIOUSLY THERE ARE SPOILERS (WHICH IS WHY I TAGGED THE SHIT OUT OF THIS) SO PLEASE KEEP THAT IN MIND)  . . . . . . . . . . .

It was honestly amazing. It’s not so much that it was great (maybe a case could be made that it’s the third best?) but it’s that we all knew it was going to be better than Phantom, but I don’t know that anyone expected it to be actually good. My objective co-worker said they were hoping for at least a forgettable action movie set in the Star Wars universe. That’s a reasonable expectation, and it exceeded that.

First, it kept up the tempo. The pacing was really quick, and it fit really well. I’ve even seen some complaints that it escalated TOO quickly, but, if you recall, in New Hope, fucking Luke abandons is recently murdered aunt and uncle pretty darn quickly. The pacing was solid. 

Second, Han dying was the Ford Right Choice. It was predicable, sure, but who cares? He’s SUCH an institution of a character, that killing him off was still a risky choice. The fact that he was trying to do right by Leia and his son made it even better, and kept his reputation as unkillable alive. I can’t even imagine what Luke’s reaction will be when Rey tells him (tho he probably already knows).

Third, Rey, and Finn were downright remarkable. A few silly lines by each can be overlooked to appreciate the Star Warsian nature of both the characters. And the fact that Finn was a LEGIT Stormtrooper, makes his character all the better. 

Fourth, the villains, while over the top in places (okay, calm it the FUCK down with the Nazi imagery), were solid. They didn’t get much explaining, and they didn’t require too much. Adam yanking his helmet off early made me feel like he was a Darth Vader wannabe but then you remember he LITERALLY IS. 

Finally, the action sequences were overall perfection. Not too much, not too little, and enough bad aim to stay true to the universe.

I loved it. I hope you loved it. I’m looking forward to the next ten thousand movies Disney rushes to production.

Chris Pratt is a fucking terrible actor. He's good at literally one thing, and that's being Andy on Parks and Fucking Recreation. He was okay playing that same exact role in Guardians of the Galaxy, he was okay playing that same exact role in The Lego Movie, and he was fucking terrible playing something other than that role in Jurassic World. Han Solo is not Andy from Parks and Recreation, so therefor, Chris Pratt would be a terrible fucking Han Solo and I literally hate all of you for wanting that.

I don't remember the Facebook app for Kenya, or Youtube changing its logo to the Lebanese flag. The coverage wasn't the same in amount, or tone, and, yeah, people don't give a shit about those things, and probably didn't seek out that type of coverage, but these articles are clearly invested in taking the broad, profit-oriented media off the hook, rather than hold audiences responsible.
