This system actually would rather be plural than a singlet.
[This blog is endo-safe]
was poking around in a library today, found a book about multiplicity written by an integrated system. didn't know they were integrated until i read the foreword by their psych, and like... it's not a big deal, i know a lot of systems integrate and it's a valid path, but it was still sort of jarring. the beginning of the foreword was about how he didn't want to treat the sysmates as less important, how he treated them all like individuals and they were happy with that, but then it ended in (paraphrased) "as time went on, the barriers broke down and down until we were left with one whole person, [name]"
i guess it was the way the beginning let me think it was going to end in nondisordered multiplicity, combined with the way it seemed to present singlethood as the only valid way to be a complete person despite that, that just kind of hit me in the chest.
i know there's other books, but it just hurt a little bit personally. just a little bit.
My adaptation of the God of Arepo short story, which was originally up at ShortBox Comics Fair for charity. You can get a copy of the DRM-free ebook here for free - and I'd encourage you to donate to Mighty Writers or The Ministry of Stories in exchange.
Again it's an honour to be drawing one of my favourite short stories ever. Thank you so much for the original authors for creating this story; and for everyone who bought a copy and donated to the above non-profits.
btw if u don't wanna be a girl u can just not be a girl. if u don't wanna be a boy u can just not be a boy. likewise for being a woman or a man or any gender that has ever existed.
there's no test you need to pass or license u need to hold to trans your gender - you can just decide one day that u feel like doing something different. if ur waiting for permission, i'm giving u permission. go be happy.
To myself, raised in an environment that glorified and romanticized restriction and suffering:
There is no victory in skipping dinner, or lunch, or breakfast, or morning coffee, or dessert.
There is no victory in refusing heaters and air conditioners and fans and heated blankets.
There is no victory in denying yourself sleep, or showers, or movement, or water, or a comfortable bed, or taking the elevator vs. the stairs.
There is no victory in refusing pain meds and heating pads and ice packs and medical help.
There is no victory in punishing yourself needlessly, in telling yourself that this pain you feel is because you are bad to the core and deserve it.
There is no victory in choking back your laughter and your tears, to keep an imagined equilibrium of safety that is really just a dry, cracked, empty, endless emotional desert.
You are here. You are in this body, and this body is yours. You deserve good things. You are alive, and that is messy and loud, and messy and loud are okay.
It’s okay to live abundantly. It’s okay to make mistakes, it’s okay to indulge. This paralysis of self-punishment, self-restriction, self-loathing is not healthy or good for you.

Holy shit, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Tumblr post with this many notes. See you all in April!
HAPPY THURSDAY THE 20TH @hellsite-hall-of-fame
-Medic (💉)
I think I've worked out (part of the reason) why there's been such a huge uptick in folks who don't reblog things on here.
This post has like 14k notes right now, and the tags and comments and reblogs are FULL of people who didn't know about fast-reblog, and -- you guys have been slow-reblogging this whole time!?!??!?!?
In the interests of a) making your lives easier, and b) encouraging you to reblog posts, which is what keeps this site alive, here's how you fast-reblog:
On mobile: press and hold the reblog button. Your blog icon will appear. If you have sideblogs, all of the different icons will appear. Drag to whichever blog you want to reblog to, and release. Job done.
On desktop: hold down the E key and click reblog. Job done.
You're welcome. Now get reblogging.
I’m so mad because this worked

Friendly reminder to treat linkers like they are what they say they are and to quit emphasizing that they know they're not REALLY thier identity when you try to explain them.
Even though it's a chosen identity, it's still an identify-as term and community. I feel like linkers don't really get taken seriously by the community at large because they're "just roleplaying" even if they're attempting ego alteration by being one.
it's been a while since i was active in 'kin spaces- what's ego alteration, if you don't mind me asking?
does anyone have advice for seeking therapy for possible schizotypal personality disorder? i just found out about it the other day and it would explain.... so much. but i don't really know where to start finding a therapist that's going to respect the fact that i don't want to make some of my "odd" beliefs go away, i just want to get them to a point where i'm not panicking because i think my intrusive thoughts will happen if i don't put my mind in a bubble.
(note: this blog is pro-endo, in case that matters for your DNI, but i really just want advice for this specifically)
Otherhome: social media for alterhumans
I want to announce a project that I've been chipping away at for the past several months: Otherhome! Meant to be a mix of the two go-to types of platforms the community frequents, blogs and forums.
While I can't publicly showing much yet, I will be putting together a doc showcasing some screenshots and details in the future. For now, the things I have to mention are:
It's visually similar to Tumblr, with a front feed and support for multiple blogs
There's no rigid "main blog controls all side blogs" system like tumblr, meaning there's no restrictions like "only main blogs can comment"
An emphasis is on customizable experience to give people more control over what (or who) they want to see and engage with, and what they don't
Powered by cats! (Not really, but that'd be fun right?)
PSA: tomatoes are not spicy. Tomatoes and tomato products should not be spicy. Pizza sauce isn’t inherently spicy. Tomato-based pasta sauce is not spicy. Ketchup is NOT spicy.
If tomatoes are spicy, you have an allergy to tomatoes.
This announcement brought to you by my almost 29-year-old husband learning for the first time in his 2.8 decades of putting food products into his mouth that spaghetti and saucy pizza aren’t spicy foods
Another addition: toothpaste should not burn your mouth.
Announcement brought to you by a person who thought people don’t brush their teeth because the toothpaste burns so much for 22 years.
does this apply to mint toothpastes??? because i literally cannot use mint toothpaste, it burns mouth and my eyes if the fumes get up there, so i have to use kid's Crest. nobody seems to know what i'm talking about when i say it burns, though.

Studies show it helps patients with an increasingly long list of medical problems.
And notice the tone the scientists researching this.
“What do you mean the fatties live longer? This CANNOT BE RIGHT DO THE STUDIES 15 MORE TIMES!”
And when they can’t figure it out, they simply say “it’s not worth reading” to keep anything POSITIVE about fat bodies from getting out into the public eye.
Because then folks might not but into the billion dollar industry for diet fads and weight loss scams that all of these obesity doctors line their pockets with.
Because then theyd actually have to start treating their fat patients like PEOPLE.
“Willett’s complaints are starting to look less credible, however, because no one has been able to make the paradox go away. One of the most popular explanations is that fat people get more aggressive treatment than thin people, because their weight raises red flags at the doctor’s office. This seems questionable: studies show that overweight and obese people tend to avoid doctors, get fewer preventive screenings, and receive worse treatment because they’re often misdiagnosed as “fat” rather than with a specific medical condition”
Emphasis mine
Also, notice the phrasing.
“No one has been able to make the paradox go away”
They wanna get rid of that shit SO BAD. Because if fat people aren’t as OMG OBESITY CRISIS as folks love to scream, that means their fad diet scams and weight loss surgeries can’t make them millions anymore!
Fuck these obesity doctors. They outchea selling snake oil.
“People are furiously looking for some way to make this not the case,” says Deb Burgard, a clinical psychologist in Los Altos, California who treats eating disorders. “And I think that bears some comment. Theoretically we should be very happy to find out that people aren’t dying the way we thought they were going to, that there’s not going to be this terrible outcome. That people at higher weights are going to be OK.”
“One of the most popular explanations is that fat people get more aggressive treatment than thin people, because their weight raises red flags at the doctor’s office.”
*points and laughs*
I’m sorry, I’m just stuck on this part. That’s hilarious. An incomplete list of things where the suggested solution was “You should lose weight”: My badly broken ankle hurting, a severe bacterial sinus infection, panic attacks stemming from Complex PTSD …
Oh, wow this study has a pretty reputable source and a really big sample size. Y’all could actually show this to the haters.
There are so many studies that show that ‘overweight’ people live longer, that fat people receive atrocious healthcare, that the ‘health risks’ of ‘obesity’ are WEIRDLY the exact same as those of yoyo dieting HMM I WONDER WHY THAT COULD BE, that longterm weight loss is impossible for all but 2-5% of people and those people sustain it by developing pervasive disordered food and exercise behaviours that would be correctly interpreted as mental illness is any context except Fatties Trying Appropriately Devoutly To Be Thin.
The evidence is THERE and it has BEEN THERE for decades now. People do not care. They want to smugly judge fat people and/or rake in 10s of billions of dollars a year convincing people to try not to be one of Those Bad Fat People. They do want to hear that being fat is just a body shape, with no moral value for good or ill. They do not want to hear that weight is as heritable as height. People get reeeeeaally super defensive when you ask them not talk about their endless dieting and attempts at weight loss around you, a fat person, whose body they are going to all this effort not to resemble.
Anyway join your local fat pos movement and fuck fatphobia forever.
Maybe the real paradox here lies in our assumptions about what constitutes normal weight.
Important read.
anyway. onto better things
onto better things thursday
the human stress response seems so maladaptive!
To be fair 99% of our evolutionary stress response was meant to deal with far more immediately conclusive scenarios than the tedious bullshit we put up with these days.
very very slow tigers are chasing me
not to leave a serious comment on a silly post but one of the best pieces of advice I ever got about stress was to SLEEP but secondly, when overwhelmed, lay in a bed and intentionally hold all your muscles clenched. clench EVERYTHING. hold it for a few seconds, then let go. It tricks your animal fight-or-flight monkey brain into thinking it had, and won, a fight, and some of the stress response will leave you
#turn a slow tiger into a fast tiger with this fucked up trick
“Very very slow tigers are chasing me” is the most hysterical way I’ve ever heard my state of being described
Humans are persistence predators and then created deadlines and out-persistence predator’d ourselves
