From the moment the teaser of Fennell's Wuthering Heights dropped, what I had been lowkey dreading was the discourse that this movie would inevitably provoke : that whether it is a love story or not.

Yes, Wuthering Heights is many things at the same time with a love story being one of them. It's a tale of a parasitic, mutually destructive love between two awful people who mirrored each other and it left carnage in its wake, yes. It is a love that coexisted alongside extreme hatred, yes. Such a love won't be to everyone's liking, yes. Such a love is definitely not wise or healthy, yes.

But it is still, very much, a love story.
