Stratt looking at the recordings Grace made, going throught it, all of them, waiting for the answer to the problem plagging humanity, listening to him rambling, science, science, astrophage, science...

"So! I met an alien."

Oh he's hearing voices. He went mad. Okay. "We are trying to communicate". whatever.

Still going through the recordings, science, science, astrophage, science, I named it Rocky okay, science... he cope by inventing a friend I guess, he still look lucid enough for the mission so, we are still good, aren't we...

And then the alien actually shows up on screen "Hi, I'm Rocky, Rocky from Erid, I am not Rocky from movie no no no"

Her, alongside any person watching this, would be FLOORED XD

Rocky is fidgeting with his little claws. He looks nervous. Like he wants to ask Grace something, but it's embarrassing. After two years together, Grace can tell.

'Just ask, bud.' He says.

'Does Grace... nevermind.' Rocky chitters and waves his arms as if he wants to change the subject.

'Spit it out!'

'Nooo, is stupid question for pebbles' Rocky whines.

'Oh who caaaares? Use your words, Rock!'

Rocky lets out an Eridian equivalent of a sigh

'Does Grace have any more tape measures, question? Rocky accidentally left his on ship.'

Grace getting really good at tapestry knitting and crochet since Eridian fibers are uncomfy for clothing and he ends up with a bunch of nice tapestries hanging in his house in the biodome.

Rocky says "why Grace hang up plain piece of cloth. Question?" The first time Grace finishes one and proudly shows it off to his bestie.

And Grace is like "oh. Right. There's a color pattern but....you cant see that. Hmm"

So the next one he makes also has the pattern textured (thank you purl stitches. Seed/moss stitch makes for great tactile patterning) and he shows this one off and Rocky is like "AMAZE! Pretty pattern on Grace art! Look nice hanging on wall! Can make Rocky one to hang in Rocky Adrian house?"

Grace figures out cables too after much practice and gifts Rocky and Adrian a beautiful tapestry made with cables to look like an earth tree on the Eridian Equivalent of their anniversary. They cherish it.

rocky probably knows that the most common meaning for grace's name is elegance, because that man is not graceful at all. he finds it endlessly funny that his silly creature that somehow trips on air was given grace of all names.

so when rocky finds out the word "grace" also means mercy, unmerited favour, and not to mention saving grace — a redeeming factor. grace was rockys redemption, he was the one who saved rocky, he gave rocky the solution to the dying sun, he turned back for him.

grace was rockys message of mercy sent by the universe itself.

and for the next 8 (human)hours, grace finds himself absolutely smothered by rocky, who's suddenly overcome by the human urge to cuddle.

Inspired by the fandom idea of Rocky designing the xenonite suit to help with Grace's touch-starvation during the trip to Erid + the scene in the movie where Rocky says he would usually watch Grace sleep from closer, on his chest

I'm imagining this taking place shortly after their first ever hug-with-the-xenonite-suit session, Rocky's just been clinging to Grace's side all day(s) to keep him company, and this is his first time sleeping since

if you're so inclined i would love to see more of rocky comforting grace (just a guy who probably has big time ptsd from how earth sent him away and his emotional support rock shaped alien. what if i cried right now)

I like your idea about Eridian Grace doing involuntary hatchling/pebble things. Any more headcanons for it 👀 plz?

YES !!!! here is grace getting scared and hiding under a workbench!

baby Eridians are tiny and vulnerable, so some of their first instincts are "get under something, your very small and you're gonna get squished or eaten!" when pebbles first hatch they want to get under an adult- usually a parent- but the pebbles don't know how to walk immediately so the parents will walk and stand over them. this is basically how babies and parents' bond. ducklings know the one they follow is mom, and pebbles know the one standing over them keeping them safe is mom <(gender-neutral)

So! I think Grace probably has some moments of feeling a bit overwhelmed, maybe in new places or big crowds. it's an intrinsic primal survival instinct, Eridians literally grow out of it when they get big and won't get trampled. the artificial growth of Graces body kinda skipped all that so I think some of the "I am so small and fragile" feelings remain. he might also forget how big he is while really panicked and wedge himself somewhere and get stuck.

and while panicked like this he wouldn't really be able to focus on speech :3 poor guy

(i had a bad day bc last night my insta and fb accounts were randomly flagged and disabled, and the appeal protocol is literally just me giving them more personal data (phone number, email, and a video selfie) and it felt so violating and stressful, bc if it didn't work, i'd have been permanently locked out. also, i performed in an aerial hammock + silks showcase saturday night that almost went *very* badly for me, and then turned out okay, so trust, I felt the entire emotional spectrum)

these scenes in the PHM movie are heart-wrenching, and rylan gosling did a fantastic job
