I’m assuming you saw that post with osric chau cosplaying steve based on when we got this ask. I don’t know of any that exist, but if you’re interested in reading about captain america whos not a white guy here’s everything ao3 has with falcon cap which is an astonishingly low number :(.

So... sort of curious -- how does one form a community through a tumblr blog? It's rather hard to have conversations on tumblr, much less threaded ones. I read these cool submitted intros, and want to be like "wow person A sounds rad! I want to ask them followup questions!" but.... tumblr. What's the expected etiquette here, especially since there's no replies? Should I reblog? Or ask on that person's blog? Or submit an ask?

i'm totally fine with people reblogging individual intro posts and holding conversations within those reblogs!! i'll probably reblog the full conversation to this blog, if there's anything you would like to be shared with the community.

as for other posts, for example that aren't so personal, like the post i made last night about civil war hype, i'm still cool with having individual discussions there - i'll reblog it pretty frequently with everyone's replies and discussions, unless the poster makes it clear they don't want it shared with the community. i'm also cool with asks being sent to our inbox for prompts like these.

hopefully that helps with communication - but it is> difficult to communicate through tumblr. if it becomes a problem, i'll set up a chat room just got casual chats, and i'll send each of the members here a private ask with the password. : >

if there are any suggestions for communication, i'm open to those as well!! this is my first time being a major mod on a blog community, so i'm always looking for ways to improve.

I wanted to rec some pertinent works by @potofsoup , such as her Captain China sequence and her race bend series where Steve is a Mohawk ironworker and Bucky is his Black coworker and best friend, but my HTML-fu failed me, so here’s the link to her archives. Hi everyone

I am @rubyandhergingercat (I share this with my roommate and best friend, but I do most of the Tumblring here), Ruby for short. I’m a Black woman of middle years living in the US.

Why I love Steve/Bucky:  I love “together all out lives no matter what” pairings. I’m a polyshipper, but/and I have a special place in my heart for the person someone always goes back to, often with tales of their other loves, and I see Steve and Bucky as that for each other. 

I joined because I wanted a place to breathe in company (being metaphorical, bear with me). I feel pinched between the Steve/Bucky fans who disparage or dismiss other relationships for them (ESPECIALLY the people who dismiss or defang Sam, I can’t STAND that) and those who say that an interest in two White boys means I must necessarily not be interested in anything else, that as a POC I should primarily/only write about COC.  I feel pinched right now because Agent Carter started up again and with it came a resurgence of the Representation Flamewar between those who want to earnestly explain why POC didn’t exist in the 1940s and those who have exasperatedly dismissed watching the show as collaborating with racists. I want to talk to others who can understand, and breathe with me.

I was about to close this with some recs but I’m going to make that another post, I think.

that experience of wanting to have fandom acknowledge racism (both in-canon and in-fandom) BUT ALSO wanting to have fandom stop lumping us in with white racists or calling us active in white supremacist racism is one of the big motivators for us making this blog, and i hope that it helps to end those violent dichotomies in fandom.

but that said, i am really excited to have this space, and to interact with you!!

why you like steve/bucky (and any favorite tropes/fics/etc., if you have any): hoo boy. i just..love them so much. mainly for the devotion they have towards each other, the time period in which they meet, and the aspects of mutual recovery from trauma. favorite tropes are definitely hurt/comfort or sick fic, WW2 era fic, socialist steve rogers, domesticity, and anything where bucky teaches steve to dance or steve draws bucky.

why you joined this blog: to meet other stucky fans of color

other info: my other main ships are natasha/bucky and sam/bucky. i feel like bucky has so much pressure on him to be the same person that steve remembers and meeting new people and starting new relationships is so important to him becoming his own person. bucky’s story of recovery is really important to me as a survivor of abuse and if i have just one scene that addresses his recovery in civil war i’m gonna cry for days

as someone who’s way into politics, socialist steve rogers is such an underused fic trope, and i love it so much :0 and there’s so much background to it, i’m surprised it doesn’t come up as much!!
