why i'm breaking up with the sims 4.
So this latest pack announcement broke me, ngl. And not because of the kind of pack it is, just because of the sheer amount of content EA is pumping into this game while 1) they still have game breaking bugs happening from forever ago and 2) they aren't giving anyone time to digest the *last* pack we got (this is the third EP this year are you kidding me)
I've seen the argument that "this is normal in the gaming industry" and I can promise you that it is not. Will a game have bugs? Sure! Inevitable. Will they be so numerous and detrimental that people are scared to update their games? Absolutely not. Will they be completely ignored while the company that owns the game continues to put out new content? Absolutely not.
This is not normal, y'all.
On top of that, and I've said it before, this game is overwhelming and loud. You load it up and are immediately hit with full screen ads. You close the ad, you see smaller ads. You see a shopping cart button even if you own all the packs. You get bombarded with event reminders that prey on FOMO.
Even without all that, the in game UI is so. so. so bloated. The in game calendar, the sim panel, the world select screen, and god forbid you open the menu to cook something. There is way too much going on, I hardly know where to find anything anymore. And let's not forget the festival pop ups, oh my god. 90% of them are completely irrelevant to whatever sim I'm playing (no, my adult sim doesn't need to know about the high school events thanks).
Finally, the community. CC makers do not need to be paid because "they're putting their time towards making this stuff". Making CC is not a job. These people do not have to do any of this, they are not being forced to. It is a hobby. Hobbies do not need to be monetized. They are taking advantage of you. There is no early access, no paywalled mods in literally any. other. gaming. community. It's not normal! Stop putting these people on a pedestal!
It sucks to see this game become...this. It's been ruined by the live service trend and influencers, it's no longer the quirky, unique game it started as. I want to love this game so badly...but I just can't anymore.
There's been a lot of negativity on Simblr lately and I just want to make a point to thank the cc creators that make content for the fun of it. Who make content because they are passionate about their craft and want to share it with us. Who share resources openly and freely because they hope others can learn something from them. You guys make playing this game worth it and I hope you know at least one person appreciates how much heart you put into your work. Thank you for bringing whimsy, joy and creativity to a game that hasn't been made without profit in mind for quite some time now. We appreciate you!

i'm completely new to the simblr community so any likes/reblogs are appreciated so I can find some blogs to follow :)
if you casually and regularily download sims 4 cc or anything else from curseforge while blissfully ignoring all the people telling you why it's wrong and why curseforge sucks ➤ all the info is out there and if it isn't enough to convince you to stop i don't know what else to tell you but to eat dirt.
if you are a cc creator who uploads cc on curseforge exclusively ➤ patreon, sfs and so many other file sharing websites exist that don't actively fund a genocide and/or are based in a genocidal country. if you 'can't' do the bare minimum of changing platforms because you favor that sweet curseforge revenue so much i don't know what else to tell you but to eat dirt.
if you are a cc creator (especially one with a huge following) who already has a patreon, sfs account or uploads cc on any other file sharing website BUT also puts their stuff on curseforge and aren't mentioning this on your other platforms ➤ i don't know what else to tell you but that you're a callous coward who should eat dirt.
if you are a cc creator who tries to get us to download your stuff on curseforge by directing us to your patreon first only for us to find a curseforge link to be the only option to download ➤ stop trying to trick people and at least have the balls to be upfront about the trash website you chose to upload your cc to. i don't know what else to tell you but to eat dirt.
visit @verycursedstuff for curseforge exclusive cc, there's no need to visit the curseforge website at all. avoid it like the plague. i know that boycotting absolutely everything is next to impossible but leaving curseforge in the dust to rot isn't. again the info is there and if it isn't enough to convince you to steer clear of this awful website i'm not sure what will tbfh.
it's genuinely horrific how many cc creators are still on curseforge and i'm not giving them the benefit of the doubt anymore that they somehow still don't know how morally fucked up it is to continue to utilize this website. they very likely know and simply don't give a shit in favor of monetization or are supportive of genocide.
obviously curseforge is a comparatively small part of the problem but that only makes it that much easier to avoid.

Taken circa 1901, this family portrait hung in the Vatore family’s Willow Creek residence until the mid-1950s, when the abruptly surfaced “children” of Lilith and Caleb Vatore procured ownership, promptly selling the property and much of its contents. The current whereabouts of the portrait are unknown. It is preserved in a single photograph taken during the appraisal of the estate leading up to its sale. Another portrait, a commissioned painting of the Vatore siblings taken upon the eve of Lilith’s 21st birthday, was never accounted for in photographs or documents.
