Hello all! I have joined the crowd and am now making a tournament blog. I love data, it was probably inevitable. Anyway here we will be pitting songs from the TV show Galavant (songs written by Alan Menken and Glen Slater) against each other to determine the one true song to rule them all. If anyone hasn't seen the show, I highly recommend it, it's just six (😭) wonderful hours of your life that you will not regret. Think Princess Bride mixed with Monty Python while being a (live-action) Disney musical type of thing. Hence the songs. I'll be running a few preliminary polls to determine how we want to do a few things so go vote on those! Actual polls to come soon, not sure of an exact date yet but I'll update when I do know. For anyone familiar with the songs already, please send me propaganda so I can post that with the polls! I'll post a list of all the songs for reference.

Which [songs] did you originally have in mind when making this tournament?

I think I was originally thinking of The Bus Is Late, Hvar by Disparition, The Bright Sessions Musical, and Little Clone Baby.

Were there any characters you predicted would win that actually ended up loosing?

I definitely expected The Bus Is Late to make it to at least the semifinals, but was proven otherwise.

What’s your favorite part about running this tournament?

It was a lot of fun hearing people's responses and opinions about the songs, particularly when I was organizing the submissions. It's very fun to learn about the plot points of different shows and their emotional impact on people even without much context, and I may have spoiled myself a little, but totally worth it.

What’s the best piece of propaganda you’ve gotten from this tourney?

I am fond of the section of the music theory essay that someone submitted for Juno Steel, Private Eye.

Are there any fandoms you found out existed via this tournament that you’d now be interested in checking out?

Yes! I actually did start listening to woe.begone because of this tournament. Sadly, I haven't been able to listen to it recently because I've been pretty busy, but I definitely want to pick it up again.

This tournament has also informed me of the existence of Friends At The Table, which sounds really cool! Marielda was great and The Sermon of Sister Rust made me cry a bit even with no context. IDK if I'll ever actually listen to it, but the story seems like fun as well.
