The Black Tapes - #3

Date: June 2, 2015 Title: The Unsound Notes: riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. So they mention a band by name, mention a gruesome suicide. I Google the band. Nothing. You would think such a violent suicide would come up in a Google search for the band. Or at least some kind of website, fan forum, anything. The ‘interview’ in the podcast made a reference to album or albums. So why don’t those show up? I change tactics and Google Richard Strand the skeptic. Nothing that isn’t related to the podcast. So, much as I suspected, it’s all Fakey McFakersons. 

See? Paranormal events are hard to believe to begin with. Making up paranormal events isn’t helping to convince anyone that they are real. This is why I can listen to Astonishing Legends but I’m not sure I’m gonna keep listening to this one. Maybe if the person who recommended had told me it was fiction from the beginning? Maybe.

Episode 024: A Ghost, A Shadow - references

Hey gang, thank you so much for listening! In Episode 024 we mention some nerdy references that can be found online. Here be the links! 

We all love Monty Python, particularly Monty Python and the Holy Grail. (MPatHG) Many years ago we three fingers first bonded when Matt and Scad put Brooke in stitches competing for who could quote the most MPatHG during an otherwise dry work dinner. I can’t remember who won, but I do remember our other colleagues desperate for the cheque and to get away from us.

Anyways, we make mention of this particular scene and you should relive it too. (Labouring under the impression all our listeners have seen MPatHG. Do not disabuse us of this notion.)

Uh, if you’re like me (Brooke) and you don’t (shamefully) have every single Star Wars character memorized, you might be wondering who Grand Moff Wilhuff Tarkin is and when he says his catch phrase, “This bickering is pointless.” It’s in A New Hope when Darth Vader says his catchier catch phrase, “[breath-breath] [choke-choke] I find your lack of faith disturbing. [choke-choke] [breath-breath]” No, I find YOUR lack of faith disturbing!
