indigenous religions need to be acknowledged and treated with respect and so do indigenous sacred lands.
fun fact: just because something isn’t sacred to you doesn’t mean it isn’t sacred!
HOT WOMEN IN YOUR AREA WANT TO GO MUSHROOM FORAGING WITH YOU
“I burned so long and so quiet, you must have wondered if I loved you back. I did, I did, I do.”
— Annelyse Gelman, from “The Pillowcase” in Everyone I Love is a Stranger to Someone (via alonesomes)
your friends are your equals. they should not control you, ridicule you, judge you for your decisions or your mistakes... you also should not have to beg your friends to care or show you empathy - caring is the bare minimum. your friends should be uplifting. they should have only good intentions for you. this isn’t to say you won’t have disagreements and arguments. but you should not feel like you must be constantly on the defensive around them. your friends should be “home” for you - a place of comfort and leisure, a place you can be yourself. if you find toxic behaviors exist within your friendships, you can choose to try to work on them or you can leave. not all differences can be settled. sometimes people just aren’t for you. and as one door closes, others open.
Spreading kindness
Sometimes we forget that we are good and kind because we overlook the good things we do to others.
We need to remind ourselves that even the small things we do matter and have a positive impact on this world.
Here is a space where you can share your everyday acts of kindness, take pride in them and inspire others.
Tell us how you listened to your friend’s problem, how you gave your advice, how you invited your neighbor to dinner, how you participated in a voluntary association, how you took your friend home at night, how you shared your umbrella… just share and spread your everyday and so so important act of kindness.
And if someone has been kind to you, share that too. Send an ask with your story!
It’s National Voter Registration Day!
Election season may not be the happiest season of all, but it doesn’t have to be the most dreadful, either. You can—and deserve—to have a little hope.
What does hope look like?
Hope looks like a vote. If you’re eligible to vote, it specifically looks like your vote. We teamed up with @whenweallvote to make it easy. For some, the deadline to register is fast approaching. Make sure to check with your state for any recent changes to election deadlines.
If you’re on web, you can click into that beautiful unit and fill out the form. If you’re using the app on a mobile device, just tap through to be brought directly to the form on When We All Vote’s website.
Once you’re done registering (or reregistering, if you moved!), the only thing you have to worry about is your actual vote. Scary, right? NO! It’s not! It’s so easy. We made a convenient voting checklist for you to keep on hand to remain calm, cool, and collected throughout the whole process.
You got this, Tumblr.
writers
i need y’all to step back and re read your works as if you were just another reader and for once just realize
you wrote enough. you wrote good and you wrote well, and you should be proud of yourself for getting this far.
your stories are heart-warming and they are memorable. remember that.
what you write is amazing. never forget that, too.
For real, if you don’t hate cops unfollow and block this blog. You are not my ally. I want nothing to do with anyone who at this point still believes “not all cops”. Cops need to be abolished. It’s time to try something else. Too many of them are bigoted people who abuse their power. When we give cops lethal weapons and authority over whole groups of people, there cannot be any room for error. Our modern day police for stems from organized slave catching during the slavery era for fucks sake. We need something else.
@geraniumlady I’m responding to this publicly just so others can see because i know you’re not the only one who is wondering this. Most of these are gonna be from anarchist websites or written by anarchists because we are the main group who are looking into a creating alternatives to police.
This article is a good article to start with that goes into how communities can deal with crime themselves and talks about other places that have already started managing crime in their communities this way.

Here’s a video about what our societies could do instead of having traditional police and prison systems. Its from the point of view of an anarcho-communist and is one part of a series of videos about how anarchism works and what an anarchist society would look like, but this video is easy to understand without having watched the ones before it in the series and points of this video can be translated onto our current society.

Here’s an article from the anarchist library about crime and police alternatives as well.
https://theanarchistlibrary.org/library/scott-of-the-insurgency-culture-collective-the-anarchist-response-to-crime
And here is a page that leads to a google doc that is an in-progress list of resources on the subject of alternatives to police.
https://www.anarchistagency.com/critical-voices/what-to-do-instead-of-calling-the-police-a-guide-a-syllabus-a-conversation-a-process/
Ultimately, a lot of these have to do with crime prevention first and foremost, since less crime means less need for police, but they also talk about what can be done when crime does end up happening. I hope these sources are helpful to you and anyone else reading!
Thank you for the polite and detailed reply! It wouldn’t make any sense to abolish the police force without other systems in place first. This is good reading for this evening so I’ll book mark these links. Maybe if anything good comes out of this pandemic, it will be communities become close-knit enough to where changes like this would actually be feasible.
No problem! I appreciate you asking a genuine question in a polite way!
I agree. I hope that if anything else, our communities become closer, too. If you ever have anymore questions, please let me know!
Here’s a link to a good post about it!
Thank you for your addition! It would lowkey be great if this turned into some kind of masterpost for police alternatives so if anyone else has anything to add, please do!

here’s a link to Anarchy Works, pretty much a comprehensive manifesto that details solutions to alternatives to policing and explains anarchism as a theory!
Thank you so much for adding this!!
Just added all of these resources to our Social Justice Resources page.
For those who don’t know, we have collected over 200 social justice, mental health, and academic resources that are consistently added to throughout the year (really, I add new resources every evening at this point). They include a plethora of links to free novels and textbooks, PDFs, movies/short films, interviews, free online classes, infographics, tutoring networks, and more.
Our social justice page alone has resources pertaining to: Racial Injustice & Prison Abolition, Indigenous Rights, Anti-Semitism, Islamophobia, Immigration, Climate Change & Intersectional Environmentalism, Women’s Rights & Gender Equality, Reproductive Rights & Health, LGBTQ+ Rights, Disability Rights, Classism, Educational Equity, Political Structures, Animal Rights, and Organizing.
Feel free to check it out and please share it with as many people as possible so people have equal and equitable access to educational resources! And lastly, thank you for supporting a Black business~
I don’t want to grow up
I wanna build a fort in the woods and play using sticks as swords
None of my friends wants to play anymore.
not to hijack or anything OP but like I think this is one of the most devastating things about our society
we are taugh that we’re meant to spend our adult lives generating capital and recovering from generating capital and then doing it again
play is one of the most creative things a human can do and we’re not meant to stop playing when we get big, our storylines are just supposed to get in-depth
but capitalism is like “no, freedom to play is for CHILDREN, your purpose is to PRODUCE”
WoW tea
Most adult animals play too. Everyone needs to play to relieve stress and feel better, and society would be much less tiring and depressing if everyone understood this. What is really frustrating is when society will only allow playing (which includes anything creative) as a form of capital-generating work. Do you draw in your free time? Then you gotta master your skills and sell your art, otherwise it’s pointless and childish. Do you play videogames? If you aren’t good enough to be a competitive player and make money out of it then what’s the point? Do you play sports? Better to turn yourself into an actual athlete or you’re just being immature.
This mindset is so freaking toxic. You don’t need a reason or a goal to play or be creative. You need NO REASON besides the fact that it makes you happy.
The good words of the day
Me reading your tarot cards: "Okay, I have drawn the Empress, the Queen of Discs, the, uh.... jack of diamonds, blue eyes white dragon, a couple of Swamp lands, and Pikachu."
I place the Knave of Swords face down in defense mode and end my turn
This is your obligatory Hermes love post
Reblog if you really love Hermes, like if you really love Hermes.
The second issue of the Practical Handbook was all about queer readings so I made this non-fiction comic about reading Holmes as trans! It’s actually more of an introduction to the subject, ideally I’d like to turn it into a proper article some day, but it felt good to reflect on it and be able to have this in a publication as a valid reading. Researching critical material was emotionally draining since the very few published essays on the topic are incredibly transphobic and basically worthless, but that made me want to have my say even more. Many thanks to my good friends Mo and Elinor for helping me with the wording so as to make it accessible but to the point, and as always Katie for supporting my little transgender bum.
unmute because the song's actually a bop
I wrote that a character went back into their house to grab their mask.
A friend said, “Kind of cool that you’re including masks in this, but it sort of took me by surprise that you included anything about the pandemic.”
I stared. “I need to figure out how to differentiate between medical masks and superhero masks apparently.”
“This is about superheroes?” they asked.
I had a crisis. “Should I be including mask etiquette? Is that where we’re at? Should I normalize medical masks in my writing?“
“I was wondering why they were all wearing masks in her house,” they said.
“I feel like my audience is already wearing masks,” I said. “They’re smart. They don’t need me to tell them what to do.”
"I should have known you meant superheroes,” they said. “You’re an escapist.”
“Yes,” I said and went to add more description to said masks so as not to be confused for pandemic masks again.
I said what I said 😌💅
UPDATES:
I want this space to be dedicated to both poetry and witchcraft. I totally understand if people don’t want to follow that through here, so no hard feelings. I just want to expand my craft and feel that these are intertwined for me.
Just wanted to let people know before I start using this for more than just poetry!
