Peyton's hair is bright to the point of being abrasive. Harris, if prone to dramatics or pettiness more often, would make a show of squinting, would make a derisive comment. Instead, he idly looks Peyton up and down, eyes flicking lazily.

"I know I've seen you here before." Again, the hair. "You've seen me, huh?" Harris asks this as if he isn't six-foot-seven—certainly one way to stand out in a crowd.

As strange as it was, their words put Yuki more at ease. Some of the worry and tension bled from him and he simply gave Peyton a look. So they weren't as oblivious to the men roaming around this city as he thought. Good. Still, it was a little too reckless for his comfort --

God. When did he become this way? When did he start caring about people, when did he start worrying about people? The person he was without Isen's influence was weak and he hated it -- was this what lie beneath the surface, deep down?

The escort was far from oblivious. They had noticed men scouring the city for weeks now. Peyton noticed Yuki's slight relaxation and it coaxed a small laugh from them. Being underestimated was always amusing.

Yuki's grumble failed to come across as threatening. If anything, he seemed to be less prickly. The escort's smirking expression failed to change.

They were almost tempted to test that theory, but they weren't that reckless. Only time would tell the truth and it was better not to test predictions. "Hm?" Peyton's eyebrow raised as the other trailed off. "What was that?" They pushed gently, teasing as they leaned in slightly.

The redhead knew very well that Yuki would indeed come after them if they couldn't wiggle free.

It took great self control not to roll his eyes -- but he supposed it was his fault for thinking this would be so easy. After all, Peyton Brandt didn't exactly give off the impression of anyone worth putting much effort into his manipulation. He had to give his disobedient heir some credit for keeping the company of someone smarter than they appeared -- but that was the closest thing to a compliment Isen was willing to extend this person.

Rather than let his irritation show, a corner of Isen's mouth quirked into a smile. He recognized that mask for what it was -- and while it was impressive, this game they played was Isen's, and he never lost.

Thus, he weighed his options; he could be terrifying, threatening, and risk it backfiring. Or he could pretend to play along with Peyton's demands, and win the game in the long run. For now, the latter seemed to be the best option. He tilted his head.

"Surely someone with your abilities has seen what dangers lie in wait for you," he said, beginning to circle the escort. "I'm willing to bet you've already run into trouble, haven't you? It's impressive that you've escaped them each time. But relying on luck alone is sure to get you killed...or worse."

They've managed to survive this long without being exposed. Peyton certainly felt a sense of achievement with such a feat. It had all been a matter of trial-and-error, along with some common sense. Mistakes had been made in the beginning, but it was all apart of the growing pains.

There was a sense of fear that non-powered individuals harbored towards those who were gifted. It caused segregation and discrimination. While Peyton did not know if Isen possessed any gifts, they were faintly airing on the side of caution. They did not appreciate being cornered like this so suddenly.

The man paced around them like a wolf on the hunt. "I'm just that skilled." Trouble always had a knack of finding them, but they had been swift enough to avoid discovery.

"Enlighten me," they tracked every movement Isen made, narrowing their hazel eyes. "What could possibly be worse than death?" The ending wasn't something they feared; everyone's time came eventually.

"Yuki," he replied easily, not concerned with hiding his identity. Not when he was an ocean away from anyone who knew him, and fully capable of removing the hands of anyone who touched him. Still, his father's voice came to mind unexpectedly. Be careful how you wield your arrogance.

His father...A sharp pain stabbed into his temple, and he managed to hide it by turning to greet the bartender. Out of his pocket he fished an ID and a credit card, handing them both to the man, and ordered a whiskey sour. Then, he looked at his companion, the pain now dulled.

That name. They're positive it wasn't a rare one, there could be a dozen people with the same name in the world. Still, it rang a familiar bell that they couldn't completely ignore. Nonetheless, it was a thought to toss around later.

Peyton softly nodded in acknowledgment. The order of a whiskey sour was telling. Someone's drink order had the ability to reveal a lot about a person.

Complex. Adaptable.

It was commonly requested by first-time drinkers, something that Yuki did not strike them to be. They turned to the bartender with a wide beaming grin, "A vodka punch for me. If you could add an extra pour of vodka and pineapple, that would be absolutely swell."

As the man walked off to complete the orders, Peyton refocused on Yuki, "No offense, but this place doesn't seem like your usual scene. You're looking a little outta place here, sugar. So do you do this often? Accidentally run into someone and make up for it by buying them a drink?"
