based on my oc named Hanta, (the fox) and because he was raised by humans and has only ever encountered another fox once, he believes he is a mutant wolf. he hates himself for it, and he is always comparing himself to wolves. he lives inside a wolf territory, and sometimes even spies on them, trying to copy them.

COUNTERARGUMENT THEORY

I’ve seen people comment that Pomni’s torture scenario was kind of weak compared to the others, and that it could be because she hasn’t been in the circus as long, thus Caine can’t personalize her punishment as well.

And even if he’s technically using their traumas to hurt them, I don’t think that was his main intention. I think he was “replying” to their criticisms.

First of all, I know that Zooble most likely suffers from dysphoria, and Caine focusing the torture scenario on that was a massive dick move on his part, especially when Zooble had shared their insecurities about their body in a previous episode.

However, in that same episode, Caine shared with Zooble his own insecurities.

I’m just saying that he probably took Zooble’s criticism as a low blow of its own and he made it personal.

i think the way Mizi copes here is similar to a lot of abusive mindsets, where one tries to feel in control, instead of the victim, by inflicting the same traumatic treatment they received to someone else.

not saying that Mizi treats / sees Sua in the same way her "mom" did but perhaps it's similar? for example, there was love between Mizi and Shine, but Shine saw her as a cute puppy, not a person with feelings. Mizi feels guilty when she hurts Sua unlike her mom when she makes her faint

(Mizi never actually "crushes" Sua, and treats her very gently in the sex scene, but maybe in her head she doesn't fully see her as an equal? at least her calling Sua "adorable" constantly shows that she's at least trying to recreate her traumatic situation with swapped roles - she ever realizes that, in fact.)

that's why she thinks she will be at peace. it's a common coping mechanism, that's why so many abusers frequently suffered the exact same treatment in the past. they feel like they are winning, in control of the situation, when they swap roles like this.

she sees Sua as someone she could crush if she felt like it... she just never does.

i wonder if that helped fuel her survivor guilt after Sua's death, because she felt she felt she was in control. she felt like she owned her lover. she felt like she "threw her away".

yeah im definitely in the right path here. one of Mizi's more defining characteristic is her sense of individuality and how she hates having her autonomy stolen from her, despite frequently letting that happen. ZBST comes to mind ofc.
