What’s fascinating to me is there seems to be a sort of fallacy amongst the #emmnatural brethren that to hate Emma you must love Jack. This is not the case with me but I do find it an interesting assumption on their part. As annoying as some Jack centric posters can be, we do know actual shit about Jack other than his clothes because he was in more than (generously) five minutes of an episode. So there are, you know, actual traits you can cling to when you say you adore him. I find him to be an absolutely abhorrently written character at times but he was written and not shat out by Buckleming and Bob Singer after Tuesday night tacos and an (ALLEGED!) threesome with Mark Pellegrino. I kid, I kid.

To be quite honest, I find all of Dean’s behaviour towards Jack to be understandable and valid. Let’s go back to Jack’s birth shall we? Jack is the son of the literal devil who was conceived by Lucifer raping his mother, Kelly, a Republican/conservative political operative of some kind, by deception. (Other than the fact that we (unfortunately) know more about Lucifer than we did about Lydia the Temu Amazon this is pretty analogous with Emma) Throughout Kelly’s pregnancy what has Dean seen? Her hand burn a fucking bible when she touches it and his erstwhile bestie “play him”, steal the Colt, and go on a road trip with her after what definitely seems like some sort of brainwashing via fetus from Dean’s POV. I think one thing people generally struggle with from an audience perspective is that the characters don’t know everything the audience does (tbf oftentimes the writers forgot this too). And in this case while it’s not clear that Castiel was brainwashed it’s certainly not clear that he wasn’t. So the idea of Kelly birthing literal hell on earth is a very valid viewpoint for Dean to take.

Side note here: I find the whole idea of Jack’s birth genuinely horrifying. Birth is already a dangerous, bloody, visceral experience for all women who undergo it. We are told that Kelly will die no matter what (and the fact that she accepts this is fucking awful to me but I digress) but the fact that Dean might actually assume she gave birth to a literal MAN is incredibly disturbing and never remarked on. We are (fortunately) not shown Jack’s birth and told he just aged up really really fast later (like our beloved babygirl Emma ❤️). But Sam and Dean absolutely do not know this at the time. Let’s assume Dean does indeed believe Jack was birthed out of Kelly’s uterus as a giant man baby. You can see why upon entering the room where Kelly gave birth he would be a tad bit disturbed by what he sees. Particularly after seeing Castiel be stabbed by Lucifer and his mom get taken to parts unknown. I’m actually more worried about Sam’s relative calm here if I’m being honest.

So a badly traumatized Dean reacts poorly to seeing a giant man baby in the room where Kelly’s corpse is lying and shoots Jack. Jack responds by warping time and space and going AWOL. Once again, nothing Dean has said or done regarding this situation is indefensible or unusual to the idea that the Son of Satan is on the loose. Even when they manage to corral Jack at the police station later I still find Dean’s response to him to be the sanest one. Sam is nicer to him but that’s because he wants him to reopen the portal so they can find Mary not because Jack has shown a partialness to nougat.

The other times I find people being very “DEAN HATES JACK DEAN IS EVIL!!!!!” occur when Dean shoots Jack at the convenience store while Jack is threatening an employee (this is like spraying water on an unruly cat as everyone knows bullets cannot harm Jack by this point) and when he tricks him into going inside the Ma'lak Box box after once again, Jack has been displaying some very disturbing soulless behaviour. Dean is always about saving the greater good and so taking out a giant threat to humanity is once not again that big of a stretch to me. Some members of the audience just apparently find Jack and his shenanigans up to this point adorable and that’s fair. But this isn’t an easy decision for Dean (or Sam btw) so I don’t understand it being used to prove Dean hates Jack or is unredeemable evil.

What Dean DOES do for Jack proves that at the very least he was trying to care for him. He treats him like an individual person, goes hunting with him, takes him fishing (a very important childhood memory to Dean), teaches him to drive the fucking Impala and bakes him a birthday cake. This is all onscreen btw (an important distinction as we know Dean cares about, for example, Castiel by his actions but a lot of the little friendship gestures we hear about like watching movies together are all offscreen). Personally I think turning Jack into a deus ex machina as “the new god” is far worse than anything Dean does to him. And of course, the ramifications or implications of this are never discussed or explained. But I guess even Dabb’s own original character couldn’t escape an absolute dogshit ending. That is the true moral of Supernatural.

I don’t hate it but it’s certainly extremely overrated. It’s incredibly cheesy even by Kripke standards and has some enormous plot holes that ruin it when you think about them too hard.

For example: how exactly is Sam able to see the plastic army man he stuck in the Impala’s ashtray as a child when the Impala has literally been recreated from the bolts up at this point in the show? Of course in the post-Dabb/Carver era we can just surmise this was that rascally Chuck placing the army man back into its place even after the car has been smashed to literal bits and rebuilt by Dean from scraps. Because it's the blemishes that make her beautiful DOYOUGETIT Lmao. But this is quite literally deus ex machina . As someone who really does not believe Chuck was actually intended to be God at this point, this is just clumsy writing to fit the overly sentimental framing. It’s just bad writing. But very Kripkian.

Hey. If people aren't aware, Microsoft admitted they know who you and where you are at all times and will give your info to the police.

They have a Global Device Identifier (GDID) Tracker that functions as a fingerprint for your PC that can surpass VPNs, proxy servers and countries. Although it can't survive a clean reinstall of Windows (it can survive updates), because Microsoft forces you to go to the internet and log in into a Microsoft account, they will be able to get to you.

Microsoft kept it secret and it was only found out when the FBI tracked a hacker thanks to the information Microsoft gave them.

You should be paying attention to this, and possibly consider moving away from Windows. If a government, especially the US government, doesn't like you for some reason, this could be seriously concerning.

I'm thinking about how Chuck was berating Sam for fucking with the story. He's yelling at both the Winchesters but he keeps focusing on how Sam is doing things wrong. He loves when Dean smashes through the narrative dragging characters along behind him, it's a fun interesting surprise, but when Sam does it suddenly it's 'the world could have lived with demon dean Sam! Why do you have to ruin everything?'

Sam having a Sherlock Holmes/Doyle-esque relationship with Chuck is so funny to me. Heres a main character the author wrote who is extremely central to the story but isn't the narrative lens. He writes him for a while but then decides to end his story. He throws him into a crevasse with little hope of retrieving the body, engaged with a mortal enemy he's been running from, being overseen by someone close to him. Author thinks he's done with him, wipes his hands clean only uhhh someone outside the narrative decides hes not done and forces the character to come back

No but. The denial of Sam’s rape across the fandom sure is something because it’s one of 3 specific tortures he’s canonically mentioned to have suffered through, alongside being burned alive and torn apart with meathooks. The latter two we have explicit flashbacks of, but the former is deliberately stated by Sam’s hallucination of Lucifer. “But it was a hallucination”, why would Sam be hallucinating about Lucifer reminiscing fondly on raping Sam in the cage. If he’d made some offhand quip about breaking Sam’s bones or something, I don’t think anyone would deny he did that to him. Also. Look at how sam reacts whenever he’s around Lucifer again. Look at the language lucifer constantly uses around him. We know that hallucifer is a mimicry of how lucifer acted in the cage and how he acts every post s5 appearance. we know he's a rapist. we see what he does to kelly. and we know how he treats consent.

So like. Why all the denial?

So I find it more than a little irritating that the show takes every opportunity to mention the Mark of Cain and Dean's struggles with it in season 10 (even in non-plot related episodes) but could hardly be assed to focus on Sam's hallucinations during season 7.

I think the people who keep complaining about Sam not continuing to act the way he did during the first 3 seasons forget to take into account how he went through some pretty traumatic events. You can't really walk away from the things that happened to him and go back to acting like everything is hunky dory!

Ok but. Looking back at the scene where crowley is torturing gadreel in Sam’s body. And dean runs away because he can’t bear to see Sam’s body in agony (all because of a choice dean made). And instead of supervising Crowley torturing Sam’s body castiel goes to check on deans emotional state. That’s it that’s a metaphor for the entire plot of supernatural.
