Reblog with the best writing advice anyone has ever given you.
Mine: A workshop teacher once told me I’d learn more from critiquing other people’s writing than I would from them critiquing mine. This has turned out to be true. Getting feedback on my writing has helped me see my strengths and weaknesses, which is great, but learning to critique others has taught me how to read closely, develop a language for precisely articulating what’s working and what isn’t, quickly spot problematic patterns and clichés, and approach criticism with honesty and kindness, all of which have improved my writing far more.
Mine is don’t be afraid to write badly on the first draft. There has been so many times during the first draft I wanted to say something elegant and well sculpted and all that came out sounded dumb. It was frustrating and disheartening. I don’t remember who said it but it really helped me because there was so many times that I would stare at what I wrote and thought this is awful, I can’t write, no one will want to read this, I should just quit.
It’s the first draft. Very rarely does anything come out brilliantly on the first try.

Following on from a couple of Kuseno-related asks, some faces. I’ve always been struck by how dramatically his affect can change, even from one panel to the next.
