I love how Togashi always expected Kurama to become one of the most popular characters. He knew exactly what he was doing.

Hiei may have been more popular than Kurama among manga readers—after all, he ranked #1 in every manga popularity poll—but when it came to the anime, Kurama was undoubtedly the fans' favorite character. Here's the animage favorite male character ranking by year. Kurama took first place in both 1993 and 1994!

With that level of popularity, I can't help but wonder if Kurama inspired any anime or manga character, the way Hiei inspired characters like Sasuke and Levi.
