My biggest tip for fanfic writers is this: if you get a character's mannerisms and speech pattern down, you can make them do pretty much whatever you want and it'll feel in character.

Logic: Characters, just like real people, are mallable. There is typically very little that's so truly, heinously out of character that you absolutely cannot make it work under any circumstance. In addition, most fans are also willing to accept characterization stretches if it makes the fic work. Yeah, we all know the villain and the hero wouldn't cuddle for warmth in canon. But if they did do that, how would they do it?

What counts is often not so much 'would the character do this?' and more 'if the character did do this, how would they do it?' If you get 'how' part right, your readers will probably be willing to buy the rest, because it will still feel like their favourite character. But if it doesn't feel like the character anymore, why are they even reading the fic?

Worry less about whether a character would do something, and more about how they'd sound while doing it.

But it was along the lines of "instead of asking whether something is out of character, ask 'what would it take for this character to do this'"

Which I think fits really nicely with this advice of making the actual action itself also feel in character

Regardless of IF YOU STREAM OR NOT you should TURN THIS "TRAINING FOR GENERATIVE AI" SETTING OFF IMMEDIATELY!

To do so you must go to: https://www.twitch.tv/settings/security

And then scroll all the way down near the bottom.

There you'll find the "Training for Generative Ai" setting, toggle it to OFF!

Be sure to keep sending messages to Twitch that you do NOT want this to exist.

And another reminder that if you do stream on Twitch, like I do, you should start preparing you and your audiences to migrate elsewhere ASAP.

whats the best way of putting yourself out there into the community?

depends on what you want to achieve

If your goal is to make friends then interact with people, join servers look for moots and talk to people

If you want your work to be seen, I’d say the most important is to make it easy to read easy to find

If you want to tell a story, have a strong hook, either is visually pleasing or an unique idea

Then tell it in a way that people would sit down and read about it, make accessible master posts that if one want more they know where to find it

Learn and get better at writing at comic paneling at storyboarding, if you’re a storyteller these are honestly more useful than drawing skills

It does not mean lean towards what people want to see, always draw what you want and create for your own enjoyment, the right group of people will find you

Also pray to the algorithm, this thing i don’t understand either i have given up already, I just draw if people see it then they see it if don’t then I eat it myself I don’t car. Strong hook helps with getting the algorithm to pick you up but in the end it’s luck
