i LOVE when bloody mary is the normal trope, simon ends up on the hail mary normally, but like rocky is asleep when simon wakes up.

“Oh yeah this is rocky! Hes asleep at the moment, he’ll be up and excited to meet you later, yadda yadda—“

And simons just thinking holy shit my life was saved by this insane man. He talks to a rock. He saved the stars? He talks to a rock. He talks to a rock that he keeps in some weird glass ball

And than later rocky finally wakes up, but simon doesn’t realize the rock is moving until hes directly behind simon and going “hello new human! Am roocky! Why screaming, question?”

trying to write book grace, and the way I'm approaching him is that he's capable of feeling extremely sympathetic towards stratt on the rare occasion where she drops her professional façade and shows vulnerability around him (which seems to be more often than anyone else on the project, if we take the coma gene decision as an example). he's a fundamentally good guy at heart and he wants to help. the problem is that socio-academic death can do a number on a guy's ego, so he is mentally and emotionally hardwired towards self-preservation and building up elaborate narratives to protect himself (man loves his narratives #hisnarratives) and unfortunately the one he built for stratt is incompatible with weakness or remorse or her needing to rely on him in any way whatsoever. which can make him flip flop between how he treats her very fast, because seeing her in pain makes him instinctively go both "here, how can i help" and "huh. that's not right. what's wrong with you" at the same time. infuriating dynamic to be on the other end of, alas. but VERY fun to write

Started with just the idea of Grace laying on Rocky’s ball with they talk about their love lives and now it’s almost 4am and I have drawn a shirtless Simon and now rocky preforming a sensual interpretive dance… this is getting away from me.

Damn i cooked up a great transfem!Grace bloodymary au when i couldnt sleep the other night and now i dont remember much of it 😭

Basically it was Grace realized on the way to Erid and started experimenting with expression and all that. And she found the fact there were no other humans around (no cultural expectations around) really freeing. Its a little sad no one is there to treat her like a girl because she wants to know what that feels like and she's still really limited in resources like available clothes. But she can be herself without consequence up here and thats SO FREEING.

But then Simon shows up. And Grace STRESSES. What will he see when he sees her? Does she go back to presenting as a man? Does she lean hardcore into femininity? She's gotta chose soon because they will be sharing a biodome and possibly a house if he lives

Simon lives. And Grace (just "Grace", she never did get around to deciding if she wanted a new first name) gets to experience being treated like a girl... but not quite the way she was expecting. When she explained to Rocky once about wanting to be treated as a girl she meant like be romanced on a date and invited to girl's night. She gets awkward sharing a bed (they had a pillow wall on the first night. Like they were 11) and flustered bathroom run ins (theres no lock on the door. There was never any need. In fact Grace had to fight Rocky for the door in the first place). He also insists on carrying heavy things for her which is ridiculous because Grace has two perfectly good arms compared to his one and managed fine before he and his chiseled abs got here

And i CANNOT REMEMBER THE REST but it involved Simon awkwardly wooing his pretty girl roommate who is slightly taller than him. Its very slow going and often times cringy. If Grace realized thats what he was doing she would say she had middle schoolers with more game than him. But then again she missed every time he turned red when she'd tell him to strip so she could check his bandages. Rocky is sick of them
