look. we're sorry. it's just SO HARD to scratch that itch when you don't have a corporeal form.

i think it’s funny that the fanon carlos you often see depicted in earlier nightvale fanworks is a lot more gruff and masculine (and the clear top in the relationship), because of his lack of characterisation at the point of the podcast where it was super popular. my theory is that many people related to cecil and wanted to craft the perfect partner for both him and themselves. that trope of the ideal ship being character you project onto x your type.

nowadays we know carlos a lot better and he’s a fairly different character. he is so scientific (the most scientific) and passionate and caring and whimsical, and his dynamic with cecil isn’t quite the same as was the general consensus. it’s no longer an obvious top x twink ship, y’know? i just find this difference interesting, especially because i identify more with canon carlos than fanon.

all this to say that i love carlos and cecilos are switches and they get weird with it ok cool bye

something that I find absolutely delicious other than beautiful strangers on the internet making the base HTML that I can edit to my heart's content while crying at the beauty of indie web dev is when a couple hates each other as much as they love each other in the same breath.

Like- they literally see love as a game and hate when the other is winning and they NEED to get divorced so bad it will be so messy and so not worth it for them. so anyway here's a whole story about that and why they should get divorced
