Lamentations 3
I am the man who has seen affliction by the rod of God's wrath.
He has led me and made me walk in an unlit and dark path.
Surely it is me He has turned His hand against.
Time and again He ages my flesh and my skin.
Ye, He has besieged me and broken my bones.
Surrounded me with bitterness and woe.
Set me in dark places Like the dead of long ago.
He has hedged me in, so that I cannot get out.
My chains weigh me down.
And my prayers are shut out.
He has blocked my paths with hewn stone,
My paths are crooked the way out is unknown.
A bear lying in ambush so to me has He been.
A lion waiting for prey, He has torn me to shreds
He has me all alone, He draws His bow
And He lets it go, true flight from all His arrows.
My flesh is pierced, Like spears that tear
Through my loins like nails, So my strengths fails.
The people now they mock
In song the crowds taunt me
My teeth break from rocks.
Ashes the clothes on me.
He has moved peace far from me.
I've forgotten my prosperity.
My strength and hope are no more
The have departed from before the Lord
Call to mind O Lord, my sufferings all.
My roamings the wormwood and the gall
But even in all my afflicted state
This knowledge I commemorated
Through the Lord's mercies great
we will not be incinerated
God's compassion doesn't fail, he's faithful.
He gives more grace each day I'm grateful.
Ye, Wait on the Lord; and patiently hope. For in truth,
It's good to bear the yoke in your youth.
He causes me grief; but this is my consolation
He won't cast off for good. He pleads my soul's salvation.
