Omega!reader who was taken captive by David's group in the summer, refuses to eat the 'meat' (😰), mainly keeps to herself but doesn't try much to escape- after all, they feed her enough to keep her alive and the alphas only touch her when she's in heat (better than the alternative other alphas/groups would take), and she's safe from the infected.
But in winter, a young girl is taken captive- to young to have presented, but she's seen the look in David's eyes when he watches the children, and knows that she won't let an innocent girl be put into this lifestyle. She sneaks out of her room in David's house and to the butchers, an extra set of keys stolen from his room letting her set Ellie free, and Y/N begins to lead her out of the settlement. They get caught in the restaurant (like in the game), Y/N does what she can to distract David so Ellie can use her switchblade on him. Ellie takes David out similarly to in the game, Joel finds them just in time to get Ellie to stop, Y/N threatens him with a knife she'd found so he'll let Ellie go (not knowing they're friends)
Ellie convinces Joel to take Y/N with them, she had saved her after all. They set off, continuing on their journey to Salt Lake. Find the fireflies, all that jazz. I think... I'd have Y/N convince (or gently nudge) Joel to tell Ellie the truth of what happened, how they were ready to operate without doing any tests and without waiting for her to wake up and consent. And the place turned on them (maybe a slightly uhh. Edited version of events but I don't subscribe to Joel's version of events in p2 🙄 you can't tell me them being willing to chop open and kill the ONE immune person they've found without running EXTENSIVE tests is good science. Because it's simply fucking not. "Oh it only grows on the brain" dumb fucks it's on her ARM would it not be in her bloodstream too??? There's so. Many. Possibilities besides just chopping open her brain within 12 hours of finding her. 🙄🙄🙄 canon annoys me (mainly p2)) Ellie doesn't like these events but... it's not like there's anything she can do about it now. She and Joel do have a bit of a rough patch after the three of them return to Jackson, and while Y/N knows them better than before, it's not quite enough to mediate their disputes.
Y/N and Ellie take gardening shifts most days together, though Y/N knows that Ellie would prefer to be on patrols.
Lots of domestic fluff, Y/N has a house right next to Joel and Ellie's and cooks dinner for them most nights, Joel fixes things up around her house (joeeellll mr construction workeeer 🫠), the three of them attend most town events together (Y/N and Ellie work their magic of persuasion and infinite persistence on him)
When Y/N goes into heat the first time in Jackson, Ellie is the one to find her in her house, curled up in her bed and crying from the pain. Ellie runs to grab Joel (bb doesn't know much about omegas 🤷♀️) and upon entering the house, Joel knows he's done. Never before has he smelled an omega so divine, not even Sarah's mother. He just barely manages to send Ellie away and walk upstairs to ask if she wants his help, and thank god she does because he doesn't want to know if he could resist her if she didn't want him.
He enters her nest with far too many clothes on, but that's quickly remedied. Joel sees her through her heat, not expecting (but hoping) that anything real would come of it. After all, Y/N is half his age at least, and there's plenty of other, younger alphas to choose from-
Y/N tells him that she wants him, the man who's saved her countless times and she trusts with her life. And reassures him that him being older is very much a good thing (I can't help myself... 🤤)
And yeah probably just more fluff. Maybe some Jackson shenanigans of them getting the big wall up and Joel getting hurt on patrol and Y/N patching him up with a pouty look on her face to make him feel guilty and risking his life so much
ALSO IM THINKING GAME JOEL. GAME ONE. PS4 REMASTER. Pedro is hot n all don't get me wrong but he's not my Joel. I want hot daddy Joel that's got rbf but in a rlly handsome way 🫠
