Feeding the iguanas.
This cutie came for a cuddle on my lap the other week
Donating some water colour paintings for a showcase. 100% of the money made on the paintings go to bird conservation projects and charities
Bit late but poppy wishes you all a happy red nose day in support of comic relief! š
At 3 months old she is almost an expert climber. Still a little wobbly but practice makes perfect.
The common marmosets were wary of their new enrichment at first but now they love it.
Some more watercolour that I have completed. The toucan is a channel billed toucan the one at work is called coco.
What I do on my days off, experiment with watercolour.
Zoo conversations Guest: "What's that other bird in with the parrots?" *pointing at tortoise. Zookeeper: *blank stare. "That's a tortoise."

Meet Neeps & Tatties - named by the public. Very Scottish names!
Zoos prevent extinction. This is why I support zoos. This is why the world should support zoos.
Meme credit goes to the zookeepers at www.facebook.com/ZoosSavingSpecies @zoossavingspecies
As someone who despises zoos, this is an appreciated post. I 100% support saving species, but Iāve come across too many zoos who simply exit to profit from showing animals off, and keeping them in horrendousĀ āhabitatsā (if you can call them that). I would however prefer them to just have conservation programs and release animals back into the wild. Animals in zoos for pleasure of people seeing them will never be acceptable to me.
Well make sure you read the AZA standards here https://www.aza.org/assets/2332/aza-accreditation-standards.pdf So that you know what accredited zoos are doing for their animals and how they go about caring for them. The zoos you have come across sound like they probably arenāt accredited. And if these good, accredited zoos didnāt have an admission price, they wouldnāt be able to fund the conservation programs and releases that you want. Or feed the animals. Or share information with the public. Or pay their passionate keepers and biologists. Or keep improving their habitats.

One of the best things about being a keeper is getting to see reactions like this when you make them enrichment
