"Desiree." Hunter said politely in return. He truly appreciated her trying but couldn’t help watch, with bright and amused eyes, the other vampire’s efforts at salvaging the now ruined documents. As she threw more napkins over the transcripts, Hunter placed one of his hands over hers. For a moment the silence was nearly palpable. "You look as stunning as ever Miss Shen."

She looked up at him when he placed his hand over hers, curiously. When he spoke, she cocked an eyebrow, and smiled in an amused fashion. "And you're as charming as ever, Mr. Redfern."

But how do you know if they are avoidable errors or not? To me, everything seems to be right. I mean, I never realize when I’m doing a mistake, even if they are avoidable ones.

With a little bit of thought, you can figure that perhaps following your friends and jumping off the bridge may not be a very good idea. In the same way, with a little bit of thought, you can easily determine which errors you can avoid making.

And trust me when I say that you are far from getting those in the present. You keep helping me, and I'll continue to help you. But you have to pace yourself Alder. It is not practical for a court jester to aim for the throne in one day. But work your way up to adviser, then you have all the power.

Grabbing her coffee, Desiree was on her way out when she noticed the commotion and recognized her fellow board member. Not expecting to see him there, she grabbed a few napkins and quickly threw them over the documents he was reading, hoping to salvage whatever little she could. "Hunter." she said, carefully throwing more napkins to absorb the liquid, rather than dabbing.

My loyalty is to one council member and one alone. The others merely inherit it when nobody else is competent enough to finish the job and usually I dispose of the back up. I do have a plan. Tag along if you’d like but stay out of my way.

And perhaps that's why they send surveillance with you, to make sure your actions are those that benefit the entire Council and not simply the one. I see no reason that you'd expect they tell you of anything when you openly admit your allegiance does not lie with them. 

You do as you please. Simply think of it as a field evaluation. I will not intervene unless absolutely necessary.

Sure, but there is no reason to make avoidable errors. Like ones that would never have happened with just a little bit of forethought. I do not like making those.

Believe me sweetheart when I say I have my ways. But perhaps without my help what you're asking for will be next to impossible for you to accomplish. I don't think the playing field is at all level in this proposal.
