Recently, Mekong Energy Company’s Phu My 2.2 Power Plant in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, celebrated its 10th year of operation.  The combined-cycle power plant meets about 4 percent of Vietnam’s national electricity needs and is powered by two GE 9FA gas turbines and a GE D11 steam turbine. GE also provides service and maintenance for the facility.  

“The 715-megawatt power plant operates at 56 percent efficiency and has a small environmental footprint. Its carbon dioxide and nitrogen oxide emissions are two and three times less than a traditional power plant, respectively. We thank GE for all the technical and commercial support they have provided in the spirit of mutual benefits and cooperation,” said Philippe Triquigneaux, director for Mekong Energy Company.  

The Phu My 2.2 power plant is located in the Phu My Power Generation Complex, which is the one of the largest energy facilities in Vietnam. It is strategically situated in Phu My town, Tan Thanh District, Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province. This entire power center is capable of producing more than 25 percent of the maximum power used in Vietnam.

Did you know? GE’s Monitoring & Diagnostic Center saved customers $70 Million in 2014.

Every day, at its Monitoring & Diagnostics (M&D) Center, GE’s Power Generation Services business collects more than 30,000 operating hours of data from a fleet of more than 1,500 gas turbine and generator assets, supplementing a 40-terabyte database representing more than 100 million fleet operating hours. GE announced today that the data-driven insights drawn from this volume of power generation “big data” have translated to customer savings estimated at $70 million in 2014, up from $53.9 million in 2013.

GE Supports GAMA Enerji’s Asset and Operational Value at Kirikkale Power Plant in Turkey with 20-year CSA.

Helping Turkey increase its sustainable energy supply, GE recently announced a 20-year Contractual Services Agreement (CSA) with GAMA Enerji for an 840-megawatt combined cycle powerplant in Kirikkale in central Turkey. Once the site has been commissioned, GE will provide planned and unplannedmaintenance under availability and performance guarantees for two GE 9F.05 gas turbines and a GE 209D steam turbine.

How GE’s Power LifeMax* solutions helped Dubai Aluminum increase its aluminum production while lowering operating costs.

Dubai Aluminium (DUBAL), one of the world's largest aluminium smelters, adopted several solutions from GE's Power LifeMax* portfolio to increase its power generation efficiency. To maintain and grow its market position in a highly-competitive industry, DUBAL is installing GE solutions including the Advanced Gas Path, DLN1+ combustion system and OpFlex* advanced controls to three GE 9E gas turbines. DUBAL anticipates gaining nearly 18 MW of additional power capacity, and a 1.5% reduction in fuel use from the project, which will enable the facility to increase its aluminium production while lowering operating costs.

How GE’s 7FA gas turbine helps TransCanada generate 20% of New York City’s power.

Located in Long Island City, Queens, New York, just across the East River from Manhattan, the massive Ravenswood power generating station supplies more than 20% of the city's power. The generating station, which supplies more than 2,400 megawatts to the city, includes the Ravenswood Unit 40. Backed by GE's 7FA heavy-duty gas turbine, Unit 40 is the largest gas fired plant in the city.
