E assim, o Javier vai embora da DEA com a cabeça toda fudida, traumatizado, etc e tal... estar em Laredo ajuda mas ao mesmo tempo ele tem mais tempo livre pra ficar pensando em tudo que aconteceu, não consegue dormir direito, tem pesadelos, etc. E a gata parece que entende, percebe isso, e sempre vai pro lado dele quando ele tá mal. Se ele levanta de madrugada pra beber ou fumar um cigarro, ela vai lá sentar do lado dele; às vezes ele até conversa com ela e tudo enquanto faz carinho nela. I was thinking about Javier Peña and the DEA's pet kitty. What if... that cat was pregnant? But since she was really skinny when they adopted her, everyone just thinks she's gaining weight because she’s eating better and getting extremely spoiled by everyone. Nobody even considers the possibility of her being pregnant. Until one fine day, Javier arrives at work and there are about 4 kittens under his desk, nursing from their mom. Javier just freezes there for a second, shocked, before going to tell the rest of the crew. They decide to leave them there and not move them, so Javier starts using the other side of the desk so he doesn't stick his legs under there and disturb them. Later on, they go around seeing if they can find people to adopt them, and some DEA folks are already wanting a kitten. And this happens around the time Javier is leaving, getting ready to go back to Laredo to live with his dad on his ranch... and they convince him to take a kitten.

He arrives in Laredo with a little female kitten in a carrier. His dad loves her, thinks she's super cute and friendly, and also really useful because she chases away the ranch rats. Javier treats her a bit like he treated the DEA cat - the two of them annoy each other, but they love each other.

And well, Javier leaves the DEA with his head completely messed up, traumatized, and all that... being in Laredo helps, but at the same time, he has more free time to sit around thinking about everything that happened. He can't sleep well, has nightmares, etc. And the cat seems to understand, she notices it and always goes to his side when he’s doing badly. If he gets up in the middle of the night to have a drink or smoke a cigarette, she goes out there to sit next to him, sometimes he even talks to her and everything while petting her. When he can't sleep, she walks into his room and goes to sleep right next to him or lying on top of him, her purring making him a bit drowsy. She becomes a distraction too, keeping him busy by playing with her. They become best friends, to the point where even his dad points out how much the kitty likes him, how he spoils her, and how the two of them are always together.

E ao longo do tempo que o Marcus vai ficando com a gata ele se apega, gosta tanto dela, ela se acostuma com ele, gosta dele... ele decide adotar. Ele dá tudo do bom e do melhor pra ela, mima ela tanto, dá todo amor e carinho, prepara até um lugarzinho pra ela ter os filhotes e ficar confortável.

E aí um belo dia de noite a gata tem os filhotes. O Marcus fica o tempo todo por perto durante o parto, nervoso, com medo de dar algo errado... são 4 filhotinhos, 2 pretinhos e 2 pretos com manchas brancas. Ele elogia a gata, diz que ela mandou bem demais! Ele cuida super bem de todos, tenta até distrair os filhotes pra mamãe poder descansar. E quando eles chegam na idade que já podem ser separados da mamãe, eles são adotados por colegas de trabalho do Marcus e pelo FBI: 3 vão pra colegas do Marcus, 1 é adotado pelo FBI e ganha o cargo de "segurança" do prédio.

A gata é o xodó do Marcus, não desgruda dele, ama ficar deitada perto dele enquanto ele toca baixo, ama ficar na cozinha com ele, dorme na cama dele sempre que tá meio frio. E o "segurança" é o xodó do FBI inteiro, ganha crachá e tudo, tem uma cadeira só dele, é super mimado por todo mundo, botam até foto dele na parede com a legenda "funcionário do mês".

Marcus Pike would totally end up adopting a pregnant cat that he found abandoned near his workplace. A beautiful, super shy little black cat, but incredibly affectionate once she gets used to people. He finds her all alone, hiding near a bush on a rainy day. He takes her to the vet, who checks her out and reveals that she’s pregnant. Marcus decides to keep her, but only as a foster until they can find someone to adopt her... but the combination of being female + black + pregnant means nobody wants to adopt the poor thing. As time goes by and Marcus keeps taking care of her, he gets attached, grows so fond of her, and she gets used to him and loves him... so he decides to officially adopt her. He gives her nothing but the absolute best, spoils her rotten, showers her with love and affection, and even prepares a cozy little spot for her to give birth and be comfortable.

Then, one beautiful night, she goes into labor. Marcus stays by her side the entire time, nervous and terrified that something might go wrong... there are 4 kittens, 2 all black and 2 black-and-white. He praises the mama cat, telling her she did an amazing job! He takes wonderful care of everyone, even trying to distract the kittens so the mama can get some rest. When they reach the age where they can be separated from their mom, they get adopted by Marcus's coworkers and the FBI: 3 go to Marcus's colleagues, and 1 is adopted by the FBI, earning the official title of building "security guard."

The cat is Marcus's absolute pride and joy, she never leaves his side, loves lying down near him while he plays the bass, loves hanging out in the kitchen with him, and always sleeps in his bed whenever it's a bit cold. Meanwhile, the "security guard" is the darling of the entire FBI, he gets his own badge and everything, has his very own chair, is super spoiled by everyone, and they even put his picture on the wall with the caption "employee of the month."
