✩ synopsis - in which the regular walk home with akaashi from school suddenly takes a twist, and turns out it's for the better.

the walk home from school is silent. the only sounds that fill your ears is the crunch of leftover snow and occasional sniff due to the chilly air. 

as always, you're walking with akaashi. it was the norm, you study in the library or go to clubs and wait for him to finish practice. you exchange small talk with him before walking home together in a comforting silence. 

it has been like this since the third year of junior high; you and akaashi are still good friends that simply enjoy the company of each other. 

akaashis eyes don't tear away from what's in front of him, but his words are directly looking at you. "despite there not being much snow, it's still freezing." he comments. you simply nod, your fingers reaching to clutch your scarf. 

the friendship you guys shared was polite. it was nothing like the way bokuto would launch his sweaty self all over the setter, it was nothing like the way his two managers would tease and poke fun at him. 

it could be perceived as gentle; however, it felt like restraint. you were scared to reach out for him the way his other friends do. you want to lean your head on his shoulder, weave your fingers with his nimble ones, stare into his eyes for hours.

there's no way you view akaashi as a friend. but you believed that he simply saw you as a companion to experience tranquility with, nothing more nor nothing less.

you don't want it to be silent, so you respond. "i didn't expect it to be this windy." 

he notices the way your palms fist together in an attempt to find warmth. his head doesn't move, but his pupils dart over to watch your actions. 

"are your hands cold, y/n?"

the street feels icy. with every step you take, you feel your legs wobble in search for a foundation to keep you from slipping. he's quick to notice this as well. 

"yeah. i'll just stuff them into my pockets, even if it doesn't help much." 

just as you're about to insert your hands into the pockets of your blazer, the front of akaashi's palm is quick to brush against yours. you want it bask in that teasing touch more, but you instinctively pull away.

now you can feel his eyes on you but you don't exchange his look back. are his brows furrowed? would he have a smile on his face? you refuse to answer your question.

"y/n, you don't need to run away from me." 

the walk suddenly comes to a stop. you're now facing him and hes facing you. "what is that supposed to mean?" you ask. 

every sentence is followed with steam whispering into the air. it's now truly silent, and there's nothing to listen to.

that is until akaashi speaks once more. his nose and ears are pink from the chill. "it's okay if we're closer. this distance we have right now... don't you feel like it's getting in the way?"

there is no possible way he is saying these words just to say it, and you're sure of it. gunmetal pigmented eyes are locked right onto your own and the both of you don't want to escape from it. without thinking twice, you're quick to give him a response.

"if we got closer, i think i won't be able to see you as just a friend."

"what if i want us to be closer?"

you realize it's not silent and it's actually loud. your heart is pounding so rapidly that it's almost like each beat can be heard; you think that you can hear akaashi's heart too. it's in sync, there's a connection that desires to eliminate any space or obstacle.

"could i ask you if we can be more than friends, y/n? i want more of what we have and get farther into it. so please, tell me how you feel."

not only is it loud, but it's getting warm. the two of you feel heat rushing around the body. you think the adrenaline is causing you to reach towards him, or maybe it's because he's finally told you the truth. 

in mere seconds that feel like eternity, you stand on your tippie toes and take in his warmth, your lips meeting his and it almost feels perfect. one of his hands go over to the back of your head and the other against your back in an attempt to keep you from slipping. in response to his yearning, your fingers paw at his blazer draped onto his broad chest.

this touch feels ethereal. the proximity eliminated, the only feeling and thought left being love. you don't want this to end, and he doesn't let you go.

with a whisper of the air, his lips pull away from yours and he feels so fufilled. a small smile blooms on his face. 

it still feels cold, silent, and tranquil; however, there is a sense of satisfaction laid onto the scene. akaashi believes he's in love, and you  are the one to give it to him.

✩ naturally, you both are very protective of each other!! the years of bonding gave you two an unbreakable connection.

✩ had fake marriage ceremony behind the slides in the playground, and you both just kind of stuck to the idea of "husband and wife" ever since. (you were both 6)

✩ despite it being so long, isagi still gets so flustered around you!! he has that sweet grin every time he greets you in the morning.

sweat dribbles down to isagi's chin, his chest heavy, rising up and down in attempt to catch the oxygen he's so desperate for. despite it not even being 30 minutes after one of his biggest games, he's getting bombarded with the press and their eggy questions.

the man closest to him raises his mic towards isagi and the cameras zero in on the two. it's hard to hear his voice due to the pumping of blood through his veins, but he manages to catch the basic idea. 

"who are the people who have supported you to becoming the star player of the game today?"

isagi is quick to think of one particular person. despite feeling absolutely milked, a smile forms on his face. with heavy breathing, he replies, "well, obviously my parents and my teammates, they always pushed me to be better and improve, but there's a special girl out there who has always been my biggest supporter." 

the crowd audibly coos, the flashes simply getting even brighter. isagi can tell that everyone is begging for him to continue, so he does, his desire to brag about you growing. 

"she's always been there for me, watching me since i managed to find my love for soccer. and  i don't think i could be here if it wasn't for her." he ponders if he should say the next sentence, but the swell of his heart overtakes his brain.

"thank you, y/n. and when i come back home, i'll make sure you're the happiest girl in the world."

ITOSHI RIN - forced proximity

✩ when i say forced, IM TALKING FORCED!! like- you're the foreign exchange student living in his own house!

✩ at first, its awkward. little word is exchanged between you two, and the only interaction you get is a simple "it's your turn to shower" or "come down to eat dinner". 

✩ he also never walks with you to school either despite living in the same house and attending the same school.

✩ eventually, you're convinced that you're never going to befriend rin, but a small upbringing makes you realize that he's just shy and closed off.

a fun fact you've learned about rin is that he is always on schedule and has a strict routine. this includes everything from his well kept diet, sleeping at 9pm sharp, and even his devoted time to reading a book for 30 minutes once it hits 7pm.

everything about his life has set rules and orders, and once again, this includes his showers. 

it's not like you're purposefully trying to learn what he does every minute of the day, it's just that he's so prominent with his ritual that you simply learn it without realizing. after eating dinner, he always thanks his mother for the meal. then he heads towards the bathroom to wash up for exactly 45 minutes and heads over to tell you the bath is free at 6:50 on the dot. 

so why is it taking longer than usual today?

for some odd reason, you're worried. rin has practically mastered his way of living and to think that he's behind on something as simple as a shower makes you wonder if he decided to drown himself in the sink. should you check up on him? you guys aren't close like that but you can't help but stand up and make a beeline to where the shower is.

you hesitantly knock on the door. "uh... rin? you okay? it's been pretty long since you've been in there." 

it's silent for a few seconds until the door clicks. you're met with the sight of messy wet black hair, grey sweatpants hung low, and a white tee that simply adds to the masculinity of rin. 

at this time, you also remember that the boy you're temporarily living with is jaw droppingly handsome, and you can't help but avoid eye contact. 

"sorry, we ran out of shampoo so i had to replace it."

his response is short. simple. you just nod and let him pass, still trying to refresh your brain. you're confused. has he always been so charming?

in fact, he's so far gone that he fails to notice the screams of people on the field warning the both of you of a soccer ball on it's way to decimate you both, and he also fails to notice that you catch on to the warnings. 

"reo, watch out!" practically in slow motion you yell, using your hands to push him onto the ground and then lifting them to catch the ball (which was going at an unreasonable crazy speed) smoothly onto your palms. 

he blinks once. twice. the shock factor has made it hard for him to process what just happened and he can only stare as you return the ball back to whoever. he watches as you return back to him, your fingers reaching to brush away his lilac hair.

you help lift him back up. "are you okay reo? that ball was moving so fast, i thought we were both gonna be dead!" your fretting makes reo smile. 

"well, i'm just fine, knowing you're always there to save me."

you’re holding onto him so tightly, refusing to let go. the silvermane captain breathes you in the last time with his crystal blue eyes shut. he’s the first to let go, a smile on his face as he takes in the view of you, his lover.

“i promise i’ll be home before you know it.” gepard says softly. he’s gentle to you, his words careful as he studies the look on your eyes. 

you grasp his hand in desperation. it was the third time he left for duty this month. as much as protecting the city and maintaining the knights sworn chivalry was important, you couldn’t help but want him all to yourself. his lips crack a smile when he watches the way you sorrowfully sigh. 

a kiss is sweetly melted into your mouth and you savor every part of it in fear that you’ll forget what it felt like. “what if i don’t see you again ? i’m worried…” you trail off. he’s quick to pull you into his comfort once more. 

“you know i always keep my promises my love. the moment you close your eyes and open them i’ll already be back. come on, don’t be upset or you’ll make me want to stay home.” he mumbles. you can’t help but chuckle. “now what if i want you to stay ?”

“i can’t disobey the commands of the supreme guardian. don’t you fool me now.” 

the moment felt too real, the feeling of his warmth locking you in, and his voice smoothly making its way to comfort you. he loosens his grip and flashes you one last smile. 

“i’ll see you again my love.”

you nod, giving him a bittersweet smile. “i know you will.” 

the moment he closes the door and takes his leave, you already feel yourself missing his embrace. little did you know, the captain felt the exact same, a red tint painting his cheeks.

convincing rin itoshi to do something he didn’t like was difficult. most people don’t do things they dislike, but some give in if they haven’t ever had the experience. however, he would absolutely not be caught walking into this place.

“rin,” you whined, “the food looks good and isn’t a bad price! can we please go?”

he refused, “absolutely not. i’m not going in there. if you want to go, go in by yourself.”

a pout formed on your face at his rejection, “aw, you're no fun.”

you poked at him before your eyes landed on the sign outside the cafe. as cute as it was, the only reason your boyfriend refused to go inside was because of how it was a maid cafe. if his teammates had ever caught him, he was sure he’d never hear the end of it.

the thought of it being a maid cafe bothered you a bit, but it was almost nothing compared to rin’s worry. you simply wanted the food, so who was serving it didn’t matter.

“but if you really don’t want to go,” you sigh, “then fine. i’ll come back in 30 minutes tops. bye bye~”

not looking back, you skipped into the maid cafe. you took a seat in the corner of the cafe, telling them you’d be ordering for two with a smile. a couple of minutes had passed when the bell attached to the entrance door jingled. you didn’t need to look up at who sat in the seat next to you to know who it was.

“you’re lucky that you’re adorable,” rin mumbled with the tips of his ears turning pink.

with a proud smile, you giggle, “that i am. so much for not getting caught in here, huh.”

“well i wasn’t going to leave you to eat here by yourself,” your boyfriend rolled his eyes. “i wasn’t going to let anyone have the chance to approach you either.”

“are you talking about the waitresses or the customers?”

“both.”

after ordering and receiving your food, you were quick to dig in. rin slowly ate his egg omelette, staring at the “i love rin-chan ♡” written in ketchup. he knew that letting you tell the waitress what to write was another bad idea.

“what’s so wrong about it?” you playfully smile at him.

he glanced at you, “she loudly gushed at me and told us how cute we were. not to mention, she called me out on...”

“on the fact you were blushing,” you lean closer to him, finishing his sentence. he furrowed his brows, but you only continued to grin at him. “come on, we’re a couple, aren’t we? i see nothing wrong with her gushing about it.”

“that’s because you love the attention.”

“… you’re not wrong.”

a few moments passed, silence ensuing between the two of you. the ends of your lips slowly turned straight as rin began to lean towards you. thinking he was going in for a kiss right there, which surprised you, you shut your eyes.

but your face scrunched up when you felt yourself kiss the fabric of his shirt. your eyes shot open to see him holding your phone, unlocking it as if it were his own.

“hey!” you whined with a frown. “you are such a tease, rin. you’d rather look at my phone than give me a kiss…”

he tapped a few things on your phone, “you thought i was leaning in for a kiss when i was getting your phone.”

you stared at him, but he didn’t bother to look back. once he finished whatever he was doing, he set down your phone.

“why did you need my phone anyway?” you asked.

rin answered, “i was deleting the picture.”

it took a moment, but you realized that rin had deleted the picture you took of him when the waitress was complimenting the two of you as a couple. you quickly grabbed your phone to see if it was true. to your horror, it was.

“you… you deleted it,” your jaw dramatically dropped. “i would’ve kept it to myself if you asked, you know. i’m sure your friends wouldn’t know you coming here if i didn’t post it.”

“but you were going to post it.”

“…you’re not wrong, again.”

the two of you eventually finished your meals, leaving with stomachs that were fuller compared to when you entered. rin was glad that the two of you were finally leaving to go to an ice cream shop. however, that relief was short-lived when you almost bumped into someone at the door.

“oh, i’m sor- bachira?”

you stared into the eyes of rin’s friend, looking behind him to see even more of them. all of them were equally surprised as you were to bump into each other. you looked at all of their faces before the realization hit both you and them.

“rin… you go to maid cafes?”

Prompt: Sae and Reader who both meet at an Art Museum after seeing the other’s exact face in respective paintings from the 1600s? Fuck yeah. (Implied Reincarnation)

‘Just what the hell am i doing here.’ Were the thoughts of a certain Itoshi.

Being dragged to an art museum by his teammates, Sae was less than happy as he bleakly looked around, that bored, unassuming expression on his face.

Art had never been something that had interested him. That was where football had taken its role.

Sae glanced at the paintings from time to time, before quickly shifting his attention else where. Nothing was catching his eye.

Until, his feet stopped moving.

The man didnt know why his body had seemingly moved- or well, paused on its own. And so, he looked up, fully taking in what he was looking at.

The large canvas of a beautiful person, in a medieval setting.

The painting wasn’t anything special, per-say. The same layout of a scene, littered with the ghosts of brush strokes.

And yet, even with its darker colours-only bright when shown on the figure, Sae almost couldn’t look away.

What exactly was transfixing him? He didnt know.

Though strangest of all, why did the figure in the painting seem familiar?

Their hair defined to the last strand, face holding a warm expression, and those eyes. The detail the artist had put into them- it made Sae’s own hurt from looking at the painting too long.

The man decided to step closer to take a look, checking the small information box next to the painting.

‘Huh’, he noticed.

S.I, were the initials of the artist.

No name, only the blanks of two letters to fill in the gaps of identification.

And too, a small message from the artist along with it. ‘Ray of Light, 1665. For my beloved, y/n.’

Sae decided to step back, a glimmer of interest in his teal eyes. Though, he decided to put it at the back of his mind for now.

When he walked off, he didnt realise how distracted he was until he nearly bumped into somebody.

Sae promptly apologised, not interested in sparing a second glance.

Until he did. That’s when he saw it.

You, the person who had nearly bumped into him, someone who bore a striking resemblance to the figure in the painting.

His eyes widened slightly at the connection. And you, were too having a similar realisation.

Unbeknownst to the Itoshi, there was a painting that you’d seen just down the hall that had caught your eye.

The painting of a man, who had definitely been painted in a good light. Rose-tinted hair, and emerald eyes that shone like sparks against his cheeks.

You’d been taken aback at the astute use of colours when it came to him, and fascinated at the lack thereof when looking at the surroundings in the painting- black and white.

The artist? Only a first name was written.

That being, y/n.

Along with the title, there was a small message left behind.

‘My Perspective, 1665. For my grumpy husband.’

Now, you stared at the very man from the painting before you, seemingly allured.

It seemed that, even paintings didnt fully show how beautiful the two of you were in the others eyes.

itoshi rin x reader. hurt/comfort, valentines day in may 😵‍💫this was supposed to be way more silly but i got carried away. also didn’t really know how to end it lolol but rin is cute and a little dumb. this is so dramatic dhdbdbdn just read it as if its a shoujo romance manga tbh

it was almost like you could hear your heart shattering into little pieces and falling onto the cold, hard floor below you.

your heart was breaking because before you stood itoshi rin and some girl you’d only seen in passing. her cheeks were flushed as she held a box of chocolates in front of her. a big, red, heart-shaped box, embellished with a sparkly bow on top.

they were your favorite chocolates, how cruel.

you could see the way her hands shook a little, even from the distance you were watching from.

it wasn’t like you meant to watch. no, you thought you were quite unfortunate to have stumbled across this scene on your way out of school for the day.

but you continued to stare, despite your anguish at what could come. it felt as though your feet were glued to the ground, your eyes stuck onto rin’s figure, awaiting his response to what was obviously a confession.

the girl was pretty. you could tell even from the side view of her that you had currently. you couldn’t imagine how much prettier she looked to rin right now, face to face.

the scene before you seemed to be playing out in slow-motion. it felt like centuries since you had first laid eyes on that strikingly red box in front of the striker.

but, finally, someone seemed to have pressed play on the remote, for all your fears came true as itoshi rin took the box from the girl’s hand.

oh.

in all honesty, you hadn’t expected that. you knew rin, you were friends, best friends in your eyes. he had always said he rejects every chocolate he receives on valentines day (and it’s always a lot). he had always said he wasn’t interested in a lukewarm relationship with the people who confessed to him, as he never even knew who the majority of them were.

itoshi rin was not interested in relationships. it hurt, sure, but that fact also meant that you were safe from seeing him ever enter a relationship with anyone that wasn’t you. you were sure it would forever be an unrequited love, but he’s your best friend and there’s no one that will steal his heart, so that’s enough for you.

but why… why is that box of chocolates in his hands now?

you can’t hear the words he says and you don’t want to, lest they break your heart more. suddenly, the glue on your shoes dissolves and you can move again. move. away from this moment, away from the pieces of your heart beneath your feet, away from the itoshi rin who you could no longer keep to yourself.

your feet moved before your mind completely caught up. before you knew it, you were running. running to where? you didn’t think about that. rather you couldn’t think of anything besides rin’s hands holding those chocolates and the terribly pretty girl he took them from.

as you ran, and ran, and ran, you didn’t notice, you couldn’t notice—not in your current state—that your sudden movement had caused rin to become aware of your presence. all he saw was your sad face and your hair blowing in the wind before you were completely out of his sight.

you couldn’t see how rin didn’t spare one last glance at the confessing girl before he ran towards your back.

itoshi rin was now chasing you with a stupidly big and red box of chocolates in his hands.

he couldn’t get the look in your eyes out of his head. why did you look so sad? were you looking at him? did he cause that look in your eyes?

that last thought caused him to speed up.

rin was a soccer player, after all. when being chased by soccer prodigy, you can’t expect to win in speed. but he doesn’t expect you to be so fast. what was making you run away like this?

before he can muster up an answer to his own question, he reaches you. his hand is grabbing your wrist before you can run any farther.

you stopped. you’re panting. he expects you to look back at him but you don’t.

and of course you know. you know that it’s rin whose grip is on your wrist. you think you could sense his presence always.

but you can’t turn around. you can’t turn around or rin will see the tears staining your face and you’ll see that obnoxious red box in his hands. you can’t bring yourself to do it, but your feet are once again glued to the ground. maybe rin’s presence has the ability to do that to you.

before long he speaks up, “look at me.” ah, you swore that phrase and his voice, directed at you, made your heartbeat increase a tenfold.

and so you did, because who were you to deny him when he asks like that? your self-restraint and respect is really at zero when it comes to him.

you look at him and his eyes widen at the tracks of tears running down your face. he unconsciously steps closer, the hand that was previously on your wrist reaching out to your face, yet he abruptly pulls it away before it makes contact.

“what’s wrong?”

a/n: happy belated bday nagi ! this is a lil blurb i wrote last night inbetween matches PLS !! enjoy ^_^ !

nagi never was the type of guy to text people while he was playing games. it was his time and he figured it was too bothersome to try and keep up conversations during it. sure, he’d reply to people while he was in the lobby, waiting for his next match to start up, but never during. that’s just how it was when he first started talking to you.

but then, one time you sent him a message during the game and he felt an overwhelming urge to respond to you. so he waited until he died to do so. he had about 10 seconds before he respawned and would use every moment of it to text you back.

and that was the new normal for a bit. he’d die, grab his phone quickly, respond to you and go right back into the fight.

but his teammates soon noticed his somewhat odd behavior. instead of him always being the first to rush out on the field, he’d sit in his spawn spot for a second too long, almost desperate to finish the text he was constructing.

they thought it was a lag at first. but then when your name started to come up more in conversation, they were able to figure out what had him so distracted.

it didn’t take much longer after that for nagi to figure it out — why his kill ratios weren’t as great as they used to be or how his technique was sloppier, all because he’d rather talk to you.

he didn’t know what to make of it, so he opted for calling you instead while he played. this way he could talk to you and still focus on the game. that is, until you start saying certain things that might distract him even more, making him squirm in his seat a little.

your f/c dress glittered against the light and expensive pearls strung across your bare collarbones. the glory of the ballroom which was painted in gold and marble, paintings so artistic that it was coming to life from the dome of the room. everyone was dressed luxuriously to the best of their ability. women were presenting their riches to possible suitors while gentlemen were nervously introducing themselves to such daisies. 

suddenly you felt his hot breath touch your neck, his lips grazing your ear. “tell me, are you feeling as amused as i am ?” he muttered so quietly so only you could hear. 

his voice was smooth like valuable velvet , his words going right through your ear and sending shivers down your spine. he hummed while resting his chin on your shoulder and you could feel his neck vibrate. it seemed like no one was noticing his actions.

“... does the royal highness really wish to know my own emotions when i present myself in front of you, dearest prince albedo ?” 

“enlighten me.” 

everyone’s eyes were on both of you but unknowing of the spark veiled within both of your eyes. prince albedo kreideprinz was dancing with you, the princess of a far away land. his hands were gently laying on your hips and guiding themselves to the rhythm of the waltz. 

albedo knew that the dukes and duchesses and noblemen and noblewomen were watching , but truly , did he have no shame ? 

his lips slowly made their way to plant kisses on your neck. he didn’t seem to care if other people noticed and began to whisper amongst the crowd, realizing his haughty actions. you bit your lip.

you passed him an innocent smile. “and what if i do not wish to enlighten you ?”

the prince drew his head away and looked at you. “well then i suppose i’ll find out...” his grip on your hand tightened and his eyes were concentrated on your lips. was the warmth coming from the layers of your dress or from the way he was staring at you ? 

there was a lift of power in his words. “...after this dance of course.”
