The way Stebbins talks about his wish, in this small, child-like voice, for such a gentle and humble dream. That it was not to live with his father, to apprentice under him for his job, but simply to be invited for tea with him. A dignified, but intimate event to bond with his dad. And that he was willing to kill himself, inflict horrific physical trauma on himself just for the possibility of it.
