yeah
xenomorp good friend for baby
it's always "oh the kids were stupid for playing a tape of a scholar reciting a demonic text" and never "hey that professor was a real idiot for recording himself reciting a demonic text"
Can you tell I like taking photos of tree-ussy?
Grieving. Pulling myself together and fortifying my sense of hope. The heat and chronic illness is keeping me inside, so here is a series from a few weeks ago. Magnolias in stages of bloom, reminding me of the cycles of nature. Growth follows decay.
Late June Magnolias
I went back and tried again, this time actually adjusting focus and other details on the camera. I like the progress.
First time using a “real” camera, and I misunderstood its functions completely. BUT Even forgetting to use the focus buttons on a single shot I still managed to get this one at the Bronx Zoo last week!
This bear from the Bronx Zoo thinks he’s people.
I felt like I needed to clarify some things before we could continue any more conversations on this godforsaken website.
I’m very proud of the European Robin, I think I really captured it.
ALSO A DADDY LONG LEGS is different in the UK vs USA. I learned that by arguing with some Brits because they said there was a daddy long legs on the wall, i looked and only saw an insect, argued with them all for 45 minutes until we all looked it up and saw that we were both correct.
British badger: jovial fellow, eats toast and jam. Might invite you in for a cuppa with the Mrs. Agricultural nuisance.
American badger: pallas cat of a wolverine. Very defensive. Fuck immediately off.
Bonus African badger: Silverback gorilla of mustelids. Should be a cryptid. Bro, don’t even. You are nothing to him.
an extremely good post addition
Opposum (US)
gets a bad rap
eats A LOT of ticks
“plays dead”
cute
VS
Possum (AUS)
cute but Australian
@rosewind2007 Ah! Our discussion topic!
Bonus mention of @boppinrobin !
Porcupine (North America)
Looks soft, isn’t
Quills are thin and flexible like hairs
Can climb trees
Perpetual bedhead
Smelly
Porcupine (Africa)
Does not look even remotely soft
Very long, stiff quills, especially on its back half
Can rattle hollow quills in its tail as a threat
Cannot climb trees
Will ram you ass-first to stab you if it’s mad
Porcupine (South/Central America)
Prehensile tail like a monkey
Short, thick quills
Snout looks like a marshmallow
Can hang from tree branches by its tail
Makes the cutest sounds in the world
Awwwww what an adorable addition!
@mildlybizarrecorvid thus seen like the knowledge you may enjoy
I honestly didn’t know there were non-African porcupines, I’d only seen the African ones
“nobody understands me” but not in the “edgy suffering from teenager syndrome mad at mom” kind of way, but the “lonely isolating young adult realization that the specific combination of mental illnesses and past experiences i’ve had have resulted in a pattern of behaviors that are often misinterpreted and misconstrued by others” type of way
Sometimes I’m a zombie.
