Fic Title: A Very Hullmark Yule (AO3)

Summary:
(Modern AU.) Welcome to Yuletide in King’s Landing, where there’s fake dating, miscommunications, stressed-out workaholics, rekindled romances, convenient blizzards, craft fairs, locked doors, an attempt to simulate fascism via HOA, eighty-five thousand Targaryens, and ONLY ONE BED. Plus, someone’s gotta save that small-town dog shelter, right?
Or: the Targbros and Velargirls learn the Meaning of Christmas Yule (and the authors hope the Hallmark Channel’s copyright lawyers have a sense of humor). Can be read as a stand-alone.
Notes: This fic is not set in the same universe as Love Actually (Targaryen Version). However, it does share some backstory, particularly where Rhaenyra is Viserys's adoptive daughter.
We are experimenting with multimedia/HTML coding in this fic, so there is a custom workskin being used.

I finally finished my rough draft of the next chapter of A Very Hullmark Yule. I usually don’t think of Aemond as a naturally funny character, because he takes himself so seriously, but I think he has some pretty funny quips/internal monologue in this chapter.

I was finally convinced to play Baldur’s Gate 3, and I think it’s very unfair that Astarion instantly became my favorite character as soon as he opened his sassy little chaos gremlin mouth.

Loves the latest chapter I found very interesting Aegon mind was a hundred miles per hour about everything except the fact he is Jace's uncle and later how he justified it cant wait for more also for the jail part where they have to bail Daeron and Joff and wondering who Joff called Luce or Jace ?
Also Id like to ask do the Targbros in any universe do ever feel bad about the incest either biological or by paper
I got a kick out of everyone in the previous chapter's comments section freaking out about Larys being the reason Aegon finds out about the familial connection…only for Aegon to just totally not register that piece of information until several hours later. 😂
As one of my betas and a commenter or two observed, Aegon has basically given up on getting familial/societal approval, so that isn't what bothers him re: the legal incest. What he is concerned about is Jace's opinion. Aegon came to the conclusion that the incest + criminal history is too much for Jace to accept, and that's why she left…
…even though Nettles told him the reasons Jace left. 🤡 (Although I feel obligated to point out that Nettles doesn't really know Jace, so she might not be 100% right either…)
As for what's happening in Upper Visenya's Hill County Jail, let's just say The Jail Stuff is not going to go the way you expect. 👀
In the canon universes, Targcest doesn't bother the Targbros at all. They've been brought up to think that's normal.
In the modern universe…we see what Aegon thinks about it. We'll just have to wait for Aemond and Daeron's takes. 😇

But the Claudia and Aemond piece made me think about Aegon and the Creature from Frankenstein. How they were put together by someone who thought they’d be their perfect puppet/doll but when it turns out they were not. And how easily their creators discarded them.
All that being thought: Aegon II and the Creature together?

Very happy with how the cherry blossom sprayed edges came out! Kept the exterior case fairly simple so it would juxtapose nicely with the lavish endpapers.

also, as a more fic relevant question, the other day I was thinking of this and I wanted to ask - how so you think will the girls react if their respective partner began growing facial hair? would any of them be into it? (obv that's not something that will ever happen in the show because not one of them having that light of hair, but I have some distinct memory of Aegon being supposed to grow a mustache or smth in the books?) In my head I can just see Joff forcibly sitting Daeron down and giving him the tightest shave anyone has ever seen-
Everyone keeps telling me to watch/listen to Epic because they think I'll like it. I think I would like it. But it's one of those things that I just never get around to. 😅
For the record, I was a Classical Studies major in school (which I've mentioned a few times here and there). Got my start with that D'Aulaires' Book of Greek Myths when I was really little, and then I was won over by those nutty Romans during undergrad.
My favorite movie/show depicting Greco-Roman history and/or myth is a tie between HBO's Rome and Disney's Hercules. IDK what that says about my taste in popular media and adaptational accuracy. 😂
I might have to move Epic up in my To-Be-Watch queue. But I'm currently working on some Kdramas while I frantically try to crochet something for Christmas. (I know it's not going to get done in time, but it's not Christmas if I don't get some panic-crafting in.)
As for Targbro facial hair…fun question! I love these questions!
I don't think F&B explicitly says anything about Aegon having facial hair, but GRRM apparently told one of the official ASOIAF artists that Aegon has a wispy little mustache.
TGC looks reallyyyyyy good with facial hair. So Jace wouldn't be mad about it. She'd probably be into it.
As for Aemond…hm. I just googled "Ewan Mitchell facial hair," and this is the closest thing to facial hair that popped up.
IDK how the stubble would work with his Aemond-look. But Luce might be into a more rugged piratey Aemond? 🧐
Daeron: do we even know for sure who's playing him? Didn't the first rumored actor turn out to be a decoy/fake-out?
Until we get 100% confirmation, I'll just use as a reference this actor, Jack Cunningham-Nuttall, who was one of the popular speculations for a potential Daeron Actor before S2 came out.
I think the actor has aged quite a bit since this photo was taken, but Daeron is fictional and remains whatever age I need him to be. So!
I…cannot see Daeron growing facial hair successfully. 😭 Whenever I try, I end up imagining him with that silly, very fake mustache that Jacques Ze Whipper draws onto his face for performances.
So yeah, Joff would definitely be coming near him with a very sharp razor blade. 🫠
The way I SCREAMEEEDDDDDD when I saw Polyphemus and then Odysseus summoning the dead in the Odyssey trailer.
My inner 15-year-old (who was the only person in my high school English class who was actually excited to read The Odyssey and knew more about the material than my teacher did) is doing cartwheels right now.
