so yeah i totally agree. from what the movie has shown us so far, Billy isnt very wise (just going with movie Billy cuz that all ik :p)

like we know he's strong and fast and all that good stuff but wisdom isnt really there and i think its kinda showing that all of shazams powers arent fully developed, so eventually -the entire Shazamily but especially- Billy are gonna develop their wisdom and powers instead of being fully fleshed out at the beggining. i kinda like that though? i feel like its gonna be interesting to see how they mature and react to certain things now vs later. idk

in the comics there are at least three different versions of Captain Marvel/Champion Shazam. In one, Billy and the champion are two different entities, another is that Billy and the champion are one and the same and he just grows up to be the man he would have become, or his ideal hero, or an exact image of his father and the nu52 version. "Wisdom" is a blanket term as a powerset..

The thing is, the writers don’t exactly want him to utilize this power, because it’d undermine Superman.

2-yeah i definitely agree w that last bit abt the writers not wanting to utilize it cuz of superman. Like as much as i think Shazam could really be as big as batman/superman are i definitely think they dont want there to be too much overlap and also don’t really see this franchise as being as marketable as other dc characters to say the least.

Funny you say that because Captain Marvel/Shazam comics outsold Superman back in the 40s I think. It’s also the 1st superhero movie to be ever adapted, according to my research anyway. It predates the very first Superman film by Christopher Reeves, I believe.

The thing is, Captain Marvel/Shazam comics outsold Superman comics when the franchise was still owned by Fawcett comics, and the reason of it decline is just DCs pettiness over CM outselling the big blue boy scout, despite buying the franchise down the line.

these companies man. this series could really be like the MCU where it starts to connect all the other dc movies to it and becomes this linchpin but DC is so stubborn like this is ur property now. use it.

especially bcuz this series has such a built in fanbase thats so dedicated, they could really build on this. like DC really feels so cheap and Shazam felt so not that? like it feels like the first dc movie in a while thats been authentic and if they expanded and also used that same method for there other stuff they really would do great numbers.
