Passport Photo Series London-based visual artist Max Siedentopf recruited a cast of friends and strangers to sit for passport photos. Above the shoulders the participants are straight-faced and rigid, yet below they are balancing full wine glasses along their arms, taped to a wall, or even on fire.

Drops of water

There are these drops of water that come to the end of your stems.

They glisten in a way that makes me happy inside my tired soul.

There is a feeling of absolute absolution when I see what I have helped.

You are a fighter in the form of the earth's grace and I am grateful to be a part of it.

You are amazing young tree. And when your leaves turn yellow I melt into something that can only be classified as depression.

Though you bounce back. Stronger than you were before and you drop little beads of water

From your leaflet hands you help it glide

And I can't help but wonder

When will my little droplets once fall

Inspiring someone else to just keep reaching

Because you will.

That’s it

I’ve had enough.

I’m going to start speaking out.

I know a million people already do. But I am not one of them.

I will be one of them. I am one of them. I’m going to use myself to succeed in becoming a voice. A voice that’s heard.

There are too many of us forced into our roles as simpletons, casuals, the poor, the unworthy, the shamed, regular.

That’s it.

Wildfire

Here we are in the middle

Of a devilish flame so thick

Against the green that once was

Now can’t find with a stick.

There is no excuse

For the way we treat our emergency

For we still go one caring

For something so blatantly

Unnecessary.

There is a sense in the air

That we wont ever be the same

That no one will come close

To feeling that selfish blame.

The fish still swim

The birds still fly

The difference between us

We can’t even try.

The animals find shelter

But our shelters cant be moved, solid

So we stay put, choking

On the fumes that we created

Our beloved.

One day this will be over

But again it will inevitably come

For we never learn the lesson

Of the human simpleton.

Healing as a process and not a one-time action,

As a continuum.

As a pathway that doesn’t exactly end.

Recovery as a repetition,

Learning and re-learning.

Leaning healing doesn’t happen,

Overnight.

I am not going to wake up one morning and

realise I’m better.

In fact I don’t believe I will ever be “better”.

But I might in retrospect,

Look back at myself and think,

“Hey I don’t worry about that little thing

that I used to anymore”,

And repeat.

And to me, that is healing.

-this is a response to the prompt by @lilithnoah ! the bit at the top is the oxford dictionary definition of the word since I wanted to focus on my personal definition of healing in terms of my anxiety. I wanted the dictionary definition there to kind of translate that into my own one I guess.
