How dirty the fandom does Espio makes me MAD
Do we forget that, and dare I say this, Vector and Espio are made to compliment each other DARE I SAY BORDERING ON FOILS TO ONE ANOTHER GOD ITS JUST
Espio suffers from something in this fandom I call “cool guy syndrome” let me explain.
Let’s say theres this show a character called Cool Guy in there. Cool Guy, as the name suggests, is cool. He does badass shit and generally acts extra. However, cool guy is also a fucking idiot. Cool Guy is more than just being cool in the show and is actually a relatively well fleshed out character! The fandom LOVES cool guy okay? Now, when fans are making content for Cool Guy. They dumb him down, they make him hyper intelligent and REALLY push his coolness. Thats what we encounter with Espio when it comes to like 90% of the sonic fans.
Don’t get me wrong, Espio is easily one of the best trained fighters in the franchise and his tactical abilities and intelligence should not be ignored especially given how well they compliment Vector’s social intelligence and what I call puzzle smarts. He IS cool, he’s deserving of all the fans he has.
However, where fans fall flat is forgetting Espio is still his own character.
- is a very mono-toned voice guy, doesn’t express often
- literary nut, literally FIENDING to tell us poetry in the murder of sonic the hedgehog
- just overall a massive fucking dork
- ERM ACTUALLY’D AMY IN THE 30th ANNIVERSARY CHAOTIX COMIC
- Very obviously cares about Vector and Charmy, not only did he blame himself for Vector being infected but was more than willing to go take on one of deadly six ALONE because Vector and Charmy went through the infection
- Collects action figures.
- All throughout chaotix case files he has shown an extreme amount of loyalty toward Rouge
- In Archie iirc Espio was originally a spy for the chaotix and in an attempt to come clean to rebuild trust admitted many things he knew about the chaotix(this could be way off tho please correct me if I’m wrong)

Overall I WISH people let Espio be the nerd who just so happens to be really cool at the same time.
