I don't mind if you don't post everyday, I'm just glad to be able to see your posts again at all.
Now that I know you're still alive, I want to take the opportunity to tell you that I really admire your alt texts. Strange detail to focus on, I know, but I really like the flavor text you put in there sometimes. It inspired me to start adding personal touches to my own alt texts, and to actually start doing alt texts in general. I had never bothered to do them before because it wasn't really a 'fun' part of posting (and no one in my audience ever requested it). But while you were taking your break, I was checking in occasionally hoping you'd post again, and I realized that I looked forward to reading your alts almost as much as I looked forward to seeing the art. It was like an extra layer to the post. So I tried out doing some alt texts on my posts, with my own version of flavor text, and I had fun. All thanks to you.
Again, weird thing to be inspired by, but that's exactly why I want to tell you about it. TLDR Your alt texts are very very appreciated. By me. Thank you.
Thank you! I myself was hesitant at first, finding the process to be cumbersome, but I realized it's only because it takes effort. The fact that alt-text can add much-needed context for both those with vision disabilities and even those without encourages the latter to read it and see the benefits of its usage, which benefits the former via more people using alt-text.
That said, when you need to upload a lot of stuff in one go, it can get a bit tedious. It's worth it, but I understand why plenty would rather not, since it ironically enough adds another kind of "art-making" to the picture. If you don't like drawing backgrounds, for example, adding alt-text can invoke a similar feeling of "aaaaaagh how do I do this". Pictures are supposed to be worth a thousand words, and alt-text has a character limit, so it's a bit of a puzzle. It'll never be a perfect replacement to the picture, but you'll find though that it's a worthwhile puzzle to figure out, and someone out there will appreciate it.
