During this year I have set myself the goal of raising money for the Make a wish Foundation. I am doing this by taking part in a Spartan Race in October. To do this I have had to try to get myself to a level of fitness where I am able to complete the race.
Knowing that I want to raise money has motivated me in a way that I usually find a challenge. As I started this adventure I was in no way fit or strong enough to take on this challenge. I weighed 104kg (February 220) and didn't really push myself into exercise. I realised that this challenge would involve a year long commitment to achieve my goal. I have to balance my work as a teacher with my training and home life really pushing myself. BUT this is a challenge I believe in.
Make-A-Wish grants thousands of unique wishes each year. But for every wish granted, another eligible child is waiting for their wish to come true. It's truly amazing what wishes can do... give kids renewed energy and strength, bring families closer together and unite communities. Wish kids are some of the bravest and sweetest kids you'll ever know. They wish to work in a pickle factory, become a superhero, go snorkeling, give their baseball team new uniforms, and push all the buttons in a tall building's elevator.
I have been recording my training and trying to gather supporters and you can follow my progress through Instagram.Â
