So one of my favorite days in Ireland was when we went to Emain Macha. It was raining and I had to be all bundled up in my beautiful wool sweater made by @basilissadreaming, a cowl made by me, and my linen shawl woven by grandmother. When we got to the top of the miund the wind kicked up and the rain started in earnest. It was Glorious. I loved every moment of it. One thing I really like in HanxLeia fic is when there's like a big battle or whatever and Han and Leia are like, fighting the bad guys and it's tense and they are both worried about the other and at the climax there's a huge explosion and smoke and fire and stuff and the dust settles and they just turn to each other and are like, 'I love you' and then they kiss passionately. That's the good stuff right there.

Even an imperfect one, that has never met the standard of the ideal that it should be, fall and be brought under the power of a man or group of people who want to make it their toy. I can see how that would drive you to desperation. I can see how the stakes would be. Even if the consipirators themselves were imperfect and protecting their own self interest, there is a kernal of truth of the ideal in there. A version of the story I never considered.
