So first of all, Thor is Asgardian. It’s been mentioned in some of the newer comics (namely, Loki: Agent of Asgard and The Young Avengers) that Asgardian’s don’t have the same societal perception of sexuality or gender that most human cultures do. Male, female, gay, straight, etc. are all just meaningless labels to most of them. Because of this, I doubt Thor would care that Peter is trans. If anything, Thor would be surprised that Peter’s transition is so difficult. Thor knows Loki, who is canonically genderfluid and can change his appearance from ‘male’ to ‘female’ at will. Upon finding out that Peter is trans, Thor would probably react like, “So, Man of Spiders, when will you perform the Trans Magic?”

Obviously, Tony “Daddy Warbucks” Stark would be supportive of Peter. I also headcanon Tony as trans so?? i might write about that in a separate post. Tony probably found out Peter was trans before he met the kid, while he was still researching ‘Spider-Man’. Tony knows, and he’s been on Peter’s side from day one. I’m a big fan of the theory that Tony designed a special binder in the Spider-Man suit, but also: Tony takes Peter shopping to buy him a ‘male’ wardrobe. As a philanthropist, he donates to charities that help trans kid, and as an adopt-a-dad, he does his best to finance Peter’s transition in any way he can.

Steve is also such a good ally about the whole deal. Sometimes, he’ll dress up in ‘civilian disguise’ and spend the day with Peter. Steve accompanies him into locker rooms, bathrooms, and all other “men only” spaces to make sure Peter feels safe (and honestly, who’s gonna fuck with you when there’s a 6′0″ beefcake at your side?). Steve also talks to Peter’s bullies like a total dad. When he found out Flash was calling Peter “Penis Parker” he showed up at the Thompson’s house and had a polite discussion with their son about the importance of respecting others.

Natasha has a different approach to bullies. She always tells Peter, “If you ever need a transphobe ‘taken care of’, just call me.” She says it with a smile, but Peter still can’t tell if she’s joking or not. She’s tried to teach him self-defense that doesn’t involve web shooters. They spar together after Peter finishes school on Tuesdays. Natasha taught him the ever-useful ‘leg scissor’ move, from one spider to another.

Bruce didn’t know much about the whole trans thing before Peter came along. Sure, he had heard stories on the news from time to time, but he had a very surface-level understanding of the matter. When Bruce found out Peter was trans, he took the opportunity to research as much about the subject as possible. He wants to respect Peter’s privacy, but he’s also very curious by nature. Tony eventually designates Bruce as Peter’s personal doctor (which excites the both of them). At some point, Bruce designs a form of testosterone that can keep up with Peter’s heightened immune system. Bruce also does most of Peter’s T injections, because Peter is squeamish about needles.

Clint is cool with it. He taught Peter how to skateboard.

Today this woman called our information desk and said, “my son’s band is playing tonight. I want to come see him, but he never answers his phone…..I want to be there. Have you heard anything about his band?”

And I felt so bad for this lady but I’m not in the music scene around here so I had to tell her no, sorry.

Five hours later, I’m hiking and run into a group of guys setting up for some outdoor performance, and as I watch them unload the drums it hits me.

“Hey,” I said, “are y’all in a band?”

They said yeah and smiled and I told them “one of your moms called today. She wants to watch you play, but she can’t get a hold of you. Call your mom.”

And they all pulled out their phones and started discussing whose mom it probably was as they presumably dialed their own.

And now, unless we meet again and recognize each other, that’s who I’ll be forever to those guys–some mysterious courier for mom-messages who came out of the woods and told them their mom called.

I didn’t even tell them why their mom called me. Who am I to their mom?? Nobody even asked. They just took my word for it and called their mothers.

I sometimes wonder what people think of my stepdad in this kind of capacity.

Every so often he wanders into situations where total strangers are in need of help and he just helps them at random, with no benefit to himself. And I often wonder what strangers think about it or tell others after the fact.

About a month ago, he went out in the middle of the night to go to the supermarket for something. When he got there, some guy was freaking out and lost, and was with his young daughter. My stepdad approaches and asks if he's okay. It turns out, the guy needed to buy an electric fan for his newborn baby's nursery. So my stepdad helped him locate the fans in the shop and then even helped him drive the right way home, because he'd come so far out of his local area to buy his baby a fan. And then my stepdad just carried on with his evening.

Last week, while he was in traffic, he noticed a woman had very obviously stalled her car, and she couldn't get it to start again. The guy in the van behind her was screaming abuse at her, and she was having a panic attack. My stepdad got out of his car, went over, and helped push her car over to the side of the road. Turns out it was a rental car and it was a manual, and she was used to an automatic, so he helped her start the car and made sure to kindly show her how to do it so it wouldn't happen to her again. And then he just got back in his car and got on with his day.

What do these strangers think about him? What do they tell other people about him, if they tell others anything about him at all?

Why are people having so much issue with the article, I agreed with it? The title isn’t the most eloquent thing ever but the article wasn’t encouraging cheating, where you go behind your partners back, but instead looking at the issue of cheating as a not black-and-white thing where there’s one horribly evil person who just wanted to have fun/get laid with one traumatized-for-life victim. Instead, like most- nah, let me say with ANYTHING in real life beyond fiction, the article sees the grays in cheating and why the person cheated in the first place. Not to say that cheating isn’t a horrible thing to do, but I feel like people need to understand that there are reasons people do the things they do. People who cheat are human beings. They could feel horrible about it, they could be trapped in a marriage or relationship that they don’t feel they can escape, they can feel insecure and unloved. Again, not to say it’s something you should ever do, but dehumanizing someone over a mistake is just as bad in my opinion. There’s nowhere where they can talk about their experiences, and it’s likely we know a lot of people who have cheated in our lives even if they haven’t (or were too scared) to tell us about it.

Now, I don’t condone cheating, but you know what’s worse? Literal abuse. If a woman is in an abusive relationship, and she cheats on her abusive husband with someone who shows her genuine love and kindness, are you going to criticize her and call her a literal piece of garbage? I dunno about you, but I’m gonna call the husband the garbage in that one.

I’m not saying everyone that gets cheated on is abusing the cheater beforehand, it’s just one example of where cheating isn’t such a bad thing.

Yeah, sometimes it can be a really terrible thing. My dad cheated on my mum when I was just a baby. I don’t know why, I don’t know what their relationship was like back then. When I was 15 my dad slept with his friend’s wife. I don’t know what her husband was like, I don’t know in what way their relationship was failing in order for her to seek out someone else. Hell, I’ve been cheated on. My ex boyfriend was an abusive piece of shit who isolated me so badly from my friends that he could go out and cheat on me with one of my friends and I didn’t have a single clue until more than a year later.

Every situation is different. You have no idea what every single relationship is like when you’re not there. Relationships can break down in hundreds of ways that you don’t get to see. I’m not saying that if you’re unhappy in your relationship, you should go out and get in bed with somebody else. I’m just saying that you shouldn’t judge and demonise every last person who cheats, because you have no idea of their reasons, and you usually only have one side of the story.

I'm sorry my points upset you, I couldn't really word things the way I wanted to.

I wasn't trying to suggest that people who are being abused or are trapped in a toxic relationship would or should necessarily cheat, I was speaking largely from personal experience. Of course I don't think anybody should endanger the sexual health of a partner. And I wasn't trying to imply that you may as well cheat if you're unhappy in your relationship. I was just trying to say that every relationship is different, and we shouldn't pass such harsh judgement on everyone who decides to cheat, because we don't always know exactly what happened. I'm aware thay for the most part, cheating is a terrible thing to do to a person and it destroys their sense of trust in you and damages your relationship beyond repair, as well as hurting those who may be involved in the relationship in some way (e.g. the children if you happen to be parents).

I apologise if it came off like I was trying to condone cheating, or justify it in any way, I was only trying to give one example of where it might not be such an awful thing (even if it isn't exactly a good thing).

I’m just saying that you shouldn’t judge and demonise every last person who cheats, because you have no idea of their reasons, and you usually only have one side of the story.

So somebody reblogged this post to argue with me, which I only know bc it's in my notifications, but I think they blocked me because I can't see or even load their full argument or respond to them specifically.

To that person, I am sorry if my points upset you. I wasn't trying to suggest that somebody who is afraid for their life would endanger it by cheating. I don't always write things the exact way I want to express them because of some brain thing (can't remember what it's called). I think the main reason my point didn't come off as well as it should have is I was avoiding being truthful and open about an abusive situation I was trapped in. Yeah, I talk about some personal stuff in the post, like with my dad, but those aren't things I'm ashamed of or scared to talk about.

I'm open to being disagreed with and I'm open to discussion on almost everything. I do think cheating is wrong for the most part, I just think there are situations where it is more difficult and complicated than that.

My neighbour’s cat is trying really really hard to choose me and move into my house, but he’s finding it hard to get past all four of my dogs.

Funnily enough, he's the literal father of the cat that lives with my girlfriend :') my gf has that cat bc as a kitten he broke into my house and one of my dogs decided to mother him.

Both of them are fearless.
