Melanie’s tone was quick to change as she nodded her head in agreement, trying to shift her mindset to a more positive one. “That’s the plan! Even though this all kind of mildly terrifying… being here without my family and everything, I’m going to try to make the best of this situation.” A bright smile forming on her lips in spite of her cheery statement. “What about you? What was your home like? Probably amazing if it had chocolate.” She teased, taking another bite of the cake.

“No, I definitely get that.” Rozen agreed with a nod. “I’m willing to bet my family is worried sick right now. But not for the lack of trying, I can’t go back home. So here I am making the best of however long I get to stay here by making friends via cake.”

derek looked down at the cake, mouth practically drooling at the sight. sure, they had plenty of chocolate in halloween town, but it was never really put into cake form very often. “well, yes, if you don’t mind. it honestly looks way too good to say no to. you made this? it looks so fancy and nice,” he said, settling down in front of the cake and politely waiting for the other to eat first.

“I did,” Rozen grinned with pride. He loved putting his heart and soul into his creations, so any sort of compliment about his baking and cooking made him feel pretty good about himself. He handed the other a fork before digging into the cake himself. “I just garnished it with chocolate chunks. Nothing elaborate. But simplicity can be very elegant.”

“Nice to meet you, man.”  Holden returned the other blonde’s smile.  Honestly, he was excited to meet someone that he thought he could get along with here, but the promise of cake made it even better.  “Well then bring on the cake, dude!”

The prince handed the man a fork and moved the whole cake to the other. “I’m afraid I don’t have a knife so we’ll just have to dig in.”

It took Charlie a minute to realize she’d squealed in Russian. She took a breath to calm down, and then continued. “I said you are very kind. Usually people don’t offer to make cakes for me.” Although it’d be nice if they would.

Rozen smiled at the girl when she’d translated what she actually said. “Well, thank you. My mother taught me to be generous and kind, and it’s what I seek to be on a daily basis.” The prince explained. “My name is Rozen, by the way. May I have your name, miss?”

At his statement, Charlie couldn’t help but squeal. No one had ever offered to make something just for her. Even when her father did cook, she usually ended up sharing, if not with the people in her village, then with her father and brother. “Vy ochen’ dobry!” She said excitedly.

The girl’s enthusiasm made the prince smile. It was quite frankly what he loved about sharing, seeing people smile. “I don’t know what you just said but I assume it’s a good thing. So thank you?”

“Really? How many cakes have you made?” She asked, tilting her head in curiosity. She only saw the one, but it was definitely possible that he had made more than one.

“Just the one for now, but I can make another one just like it no problem.” The prince assured the woman.

Marie had seen Madame Bonfamille with cake before but due to being a cat, she had never tasted it herself. She edged closer. “I was told cake wasn’t good for me, I don‘t know if I should.”

“Oh, I’m sorry to hear that.” The prince frowned, feeling like he had somehow crossed a line. “Are you allergic to chocolate?”

“Doesn’t sound all too bad then, I would atleast like to know how I went.“ She jokes and sighs softly. "This whole place feels..wrong.”

“The travel was worth it,” he thought out loud as he tried to remember what he could. It was a whole decade ago after all. “And that’s saying something because I hate carriage rides. They bore me out of my wits. But I remember, that was the first time my father allowed me to drink wine.”

“ Well I would say you are well on your way. “ she replied. “ It’s a pleasure to meet you Rozen. “ she replied as she gave him a curtsy, a force of habit at this point. “ I’m Poppy. “ she replied, extending a hand out towards. 

He took her hand and placed a gentle kiss against it. “You are too kind, Poppy,” the kind words did move him and it made sharing it with Poppy all the more special. “So, tell me about yourself. Might I guess, you are royalty, aren’t you?”

Mel shook her head in response, cheeks puffing out slightly before a sigh followed. “Seabrook, the place I’m from, only really has one flavor when it comes to things and that’s vanilla. Vanilla’s alright but it definitely gets boring after a while. All of the things in Seabrook are kind of lacking in flavor and uniqueness… mainly because it’s important for everyone to be the same.” A sad smile formed on her lips at the thought.  

Rozen raised his brows at the young woman’s revelation. “It sounds like a town with much solidarity. But that must be hard, not being able to discover things for yourself.” He poked at the cake, hoping the chocolate would change his mood. “This is your chance to try things then.”

“ Really? She must be a wonderful cook then I assume.  “ she chimed out with slight fascination. “ Oh I did very much! Thank you again. “ she replied with a soft smile. “ Oh, how rude of me, I’m afraid I haven’t gotten your name yet. “ she replied, shaking her head a bit sheepishly. 

“One I only hope to amount to one day,” he replied with a warm smile. Rozen did take from his mother in many ways, he only hoped to be as generous and kind as her. “Oh pardon me for being so rude.” He smiled sheepishly. “My name is Rozen. And might I know your name?”

“Oh no, I am.” Chocolate wasn’t something she got very often because her father had to go into town to get it for her, but when he did get it, she always ate it up. “I just…I’ve never had a portion that big before and vau!”

“Well you are welcome to as much you want. There’s more where it came from.”

“Really?” She asked as she looked at the piece of cake with wide eyes, stomach rumbling. Growing up in a small village meant that she usually had to share everything, so she was used to splitting things. But she never usually got a portion as big as that cake was.

“Well, yeah,” the prince nodded, with a wide grin on his face. “Unless you’re not a fan of chocolate?” He found the notion almost impossible. Everyone he knew loved chocolate.

Raising an eyebrow, she smirks and puts her hands up in surrender for a moment. “You’ve got me there, I will say that, but this hellhole doesn’t seem like a good place for Heaven to have.” Rosie muses as she nods her head slowly. “Absolutely gorgeous really, have you? I miss it a lot..”

“Fair enough. Might be purgatory,” he thought out loud before stuffing another forkful of cake in his mouth. “Years ago. If I remember right, when I was only thirteen. This town is quite quaint in comparison.”

“…Dude, you’re my new favorite person.”  Then again, anyone who gave him any kind of food was great in his book.  “I’m Holden.”

He didn’t know what dude meant but in context, it didn’t seem to be a bad thing. “My name is Rozen,” he introduced himself with a grin. “And if I’m your favorite person now, wait till you taste the cake.”

Making a face, she grins and playfully rolls her eyes. “Alrighty then, it’s nice to meet you as well, Rozen.“ She replies and takes a forkful of the cake as well before biting into it and practically melting at the taste. "When I die and go to Heaven, I pray that this is the only food that they serve.” Rosie states with a snort. “France, born and raised.”

“ How do we know we’re not in heaven?” he asked almost quite seriously. Maybe they had died, and that was why they found themselves in this mysterious place. “Ahh France. Beautiful country. Stunning architecture. I’ve visited with my family before.”
