Can I just say how cool it was that both of these superheroines’ personalities and powers were explored in this episode? And how well it was done?
Starfire was not shamed for being emotional. Her powers come from her emotions.
Raven was not shamed for suppressing her emotions. Her power requires amazing control.
They both. Work. They are both different kinds of strength, and they are both heroic and powerful and good. And they each learned from the other, and helped each other out by seeing from each others’ perspective, and finding the value in their differing approaches! Wow!
Fuck yes, this is how you write super-ladies, okay. There’s more than one way to be a “strong female character.” There’s all different kinds of strength. Why don’t more people GET this?

It’s harder for disenfranchised people to speak out than it is for other people. That’s how they stay disenfranchised. But it’s becoming easier to make our voices heard now, thanks to the internet.
A well-timed article, with great suggestions for spoonie activists. Remember, standard activism isn’t accessible; don’t hold yourself to normie standards, and instead find ways to take part that work for you.
Spoon Shares is a wonderful site, y’all, and they love contributions, so join in on the conversation!
As I told a friend of mine, those who can atten marches and rallies are like the road crew workers who run the backhoes and bulldozers, the ones who shovel the asphalt into place and drive the steamrollers to flatten it smooth.
But did you remember that roadwork requires flaggers to direct traffic safely through or around the construction zone?
Did you remember that roadwork requires city clerks who find all the needed forms, and file them away whenever they’re filled out, or a report on the work’s progress is due?
Marching isn’t the only way to be an activist…and if all you can do is retweet and reblog and share various posts…you’re the worker who flagging the construction zone with all those STOP and SLOW and CAUTION: ROAD WORK AHEAD signs, drawing people’s attention to what’s going on, and helping them to navigate on where to go and what to do.
And if you’re the person sharing links to organizations and looking up & posting about sites with helpful information or resources, you’re the office clerk filling out and filing all those reports and paperwork forms.
We don’t all have to be paving shovelers and bulldozer drivers to get the job done. Some of us not only can be, but need to be, flaggers and filing clerks and all the other job analogies that are out there.
LOVE this. Your contribution matters, friends. Believe it, and then lend a hand where you can!
It’s dangerous to go alone! Take this!
